Nach Baliye judge practiced hard, but still went viral with his dancing
Preeti Singh, July 20, 2015, Mumbai, NewsCrunch

For a country mildly upset about shock defeat to Zimbabwe in T20 Cricket on Sunday, Nach Baliye 7 judge Chetan Bhagat brought loads of cheer with his dancing.

Frequently questioned about his competence to adjudge India's top dance show, Chetan Bhagat proved his critics right.

His awkward gait and frigid movements at the final created such an eyesore it became the talking point of the night, even overshadowing the achievement of winners Amruta Khanvilkar and Himmanshoo Malhotra.
    .
To be fair, Chetan Bhagat never claimed that he was an accomplished dancer. He has been tweeting that he would dance for the first time in his life, and was practicing hard.

On Internet, Chetan Bhagat 's foray into dancing  went viral and an outpour of memes and tweets came in response.  Here are the best of them:

Influential right-wing blog Media Crooks, sharply turned against PM Modi on Sunday, launching personal abuses, upsetting leagues of Modi supporters.
Media Crooks battles Modi supporters after abusing their leader

Sujay Ghosh, July 20, 2015, New Delhi, NewsCrunch

Influential right-wing blog Media Crooks, sharply turned against PM Modi on Sunday, launching personal abuses, upsetting legions of Modi supporters.

The blog run by an Ahmedabad man identified only as Ravinar, gets nearly 2 million page views a month, and is followed by nearly a lakh people on Twitter.

Using foul language, Media Crooks  accused Modi on Twitter of betraying Hindus and appeasing minorities.

He said Modi was lauding Islamic piety when Hindus were being killed in Bengal and Kerala. By not acting on Hindutva issues like Ram Temple and uniform civil code Modi had turned a coward and a traitor after winning the election. He also took on Modi's supporters for following their leader blindly.

Media Crooks  seems to be part of a growing group of hardline Hindutva supporters, who are disillusioned with Modi's attempt to soften his image and assume a moderate stance. The Delhi Police had recently updated the Prime Minister's security Blue Book claiming there was a threat to his life from Hindutva extremists, unhappy with his wooing of minorities.

Media Crooks's torrent of tweets against Modi started on Sunday and turned increasingly abusive  as many objected to it.

Though Media Crooks  has never been sued, he is known for his abusive and sexist language. Though he has tried to tone down after the blog became popular, his quick temper and flair for vulgarity remains.

At an AMA session with Reddit, Media Crooks  had said he did not have any party affiliation, but supported Modi as he was being hounded by the media.

Media Crooks  owes his success to the support he received from Modi supporters, who shared his gripe about the mainstream media, seen as anti-Hindu. But many of them started blocking him  after he started abusing the Prime Minister.

However, a section of them shared Media Crooks' alarm and said he had a point about the recent changes in Modi.

KV Vijayendra Prasad says four top actors rejected Bajrangi Bhaijaan

Gowri Ramesh, July 20, 2015, Bangalore, NewsCrunch

KV Vijayendra Prasad, who wrote the Bajrangi Bhaijaan story, has revealed that four top actors including Aamir Khan and Rajinikanth rejected the movie till Salman Khan agreed to star in it.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan producer Rockline Venkaesh, who picked up the story from KV Vijayendra Prasad, wanted to make the movie in Hindi and approached Aamir Khan through a common acquaintance, reports Bangalore Mirror.

Though Aaamir Khan liked the plot, his call sheet was loaded. To attempt the movie in other languages Rockline Venkatesh approached  Tamil, Kannada and Telugu stars Rajinikanth, Puneeth Rajkumar and Allu Arjun, all of who declined the offer.

Rockline Venkatesh then came across Kabir Khan, who took him to Salman Khan and made him narrate the story. Rest as they say is history.

KV Vijayendra Prasad is happy that Salman Khan got to play the lead role; the Khan who is known for his generosity and Being Human work was the best for the for the role, he says.

KV Vijayendra Prasad says Bajrangi Bhaijaan story is inspired by a 1987 Chiranjeevi movie Pasivadi Pranam. It was music director Keervani, who suggested him to give an Indian-Pakistani backdrop to the movie.

For the record KV Vijayendra Prasad, father of director Chandramouli, has the distinction of delivering two super hits in the same week: Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Bahubali.

Sujay Ghosh, July 20, 2015, New Delhi, NewsCrunch

Disgraced Pakistani dictator General Pervez Musharraf may be facing a slew of criminal charges in his own country, but an NCERT-recognised text book in Madhya Pradesh lists him among great personalities of the world.

The Class 3 book ‘Naitik Shiksha, Samanya Gyan Evam Yog’ asks the students to identify a few great personalities by printing just their photographs.

Dalai Lama and Sonia Gandhi have the honour of sharing the page with Gen Musharraf, the man who overthrew a democratically-elected government in Pakistan and started Kargil war with India.

The page is found in the second section of the book’s eighth chapter, reports Eenadu.

The book, published by the Gayatri publications, Delhi, and written by Pankaj Jain, has been recognised by NCERT.

The Jabalpur district bar association has lodged a strong protest and submitted a memorandum to the district collector SN Roopla.

They have demanded the chapter should be withdrawn and an inquiry should be instituted against the writer.

The iconic scene in Bajrangi Bhaijaan, in which Nawazuddin Siddiqui struggles to file his report on the crowded over bridge of a railway station, was inspired by a real-life TV report filed by Karachi’s Indus TV reporter Chand Nawaab.

The iconic scene in Bajrangi Bhaijaan, in which Nawazuddin Siddiqui struggles to file his report on the crowded over bridge of a railway station, was inspired by a real-life TV report filed by Karachi’s Indus TV reporter Chand Nawaab.

After Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who plays a reporter in the movie, pulled off the hilarious scene, Chand Nawaab has gone viral in this side of the border as well.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan shows Nawazuddin Siddiqui character on the railway over bridge telling the camera that people were leaving Karachi to go to their homes to celebrate Eid. He struggles to say the words as impatient passengers keep coming in the way.

It is a very effective scene, which helps Nawazuddin Siddiqui strike a chord with the audience, making them empathise with him.

To give it a touch of authenticity the Bajrangi Bhaijaan screenplay team led by director Kabir Khan decided to base it on the TV report featuring Chand Nawaab, which had gone viral in Pakistan.

The original TV clip shot in 2008 shows Chand Nawaab on the railway over bridge struggling to say that people were returning home for Eid as passengers keep butting in. He takes multiple retakes to say the words, snarls at the people and the cameraman, before making a mess of the report.

From the dialogue, to the setting, to the camera angle, to the people coming in the way, Bajrangi Bhaijaan copies the Chand Nawaab masterpiece in every possible way.

The original clip had found its way to YouTube and turned Chand Nawaab into a minor sensation in Pakistan, though often referred to in jest. After Bajrangi Bhaijaan released, Pakistanis were quick to point out that Nawazuddin Siddiqui was aping their own Chand Nawaab.

For a change, Indians and Pakistanis seem to be sharing a common joke: Thank you, Chand Saab.

For Pakistan, a routine ODI win against Sri Lanka turned into a mega event, when Indian tennis star Saniza Mirza led their team’s victory celebrations  in  a viral Dubsmash video.

The video shot in Sri Lanka has Sania Mirza dancing to the beats of popular song "Abhi to party shuru hui hai" with husband Shoaib Malik and four other members of Pakistan cricket team: Muhammad Irfan, Ehsan Adil, Babar Azam, Mukhtar Ahmed.

Sania Mirza had gone to Sri Lanka to join her husband Shoaib Malik for Eid.

Besides Sania Mirza’s electrifying and unexpected presence, the video is superbly choreographed. The video starts with the couple making their moves and pulling away to reveal the lineup of Pakistanplayers, before everyone breaking into an energetic dance.

The Dubsmash video, which was tweeted by Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik became headline news in Pakistanon Monday as all TV channels rushed to cover it. Pakistani fans joined in sending their rocking bhabhi viral.

While Sania Mirza marriage to Shoaib Malik has been a sensitive issue for many in India, Pakistan has by and large embraced her excitedly.

Sensitive to extremist Indian concerns, Sania Mirza has played down her Pakistani connection and opted to set up her marital home in Dubai.

Tennis star Sania Mirza's hit Dubsmash video with her husband Shoaib Malik and other Pakistani players drew an epic response from India player Yuvraj Singh.

Reacting to the video which went viral on the Internet, Yuvraj Singh lamented that the two great players were terrible dancers.

Sania Mirza, who was keeping an anxious watch on how her Dubsmash video was being received, retorted quickly. Calling Yuvraj Singh, Motu - a sensitive issue with him - she challenged him to show his moves.

The light-hearted banter was taken as a serious exchange of words by many Pakistani fans, who called Yuvraj Singh jealous, not knowing that he is a great friend of Sania Mirza.

On the other hand, Yuvraj Singh's tweet was a show of support of a loyal friend to Sania Mirza, whose new video could have provoked angry reactions in India. By teasing the couple about their lack of dancing skills Yuvraj Singh was sending out a message that it was no big deal.

Sania Mirza released the video on Monday, which showed her dancing with Pakistani cricket team, including her husband Shoaib Malik, celebrating their victory over the Lankans.

For many Indian fans, who take a rigid stance on anything Pakistan, the video came as a provocation. The tennis star has faced tough questions in the past over her political loyalty after she married Pak cricketer Shoaib Malik.

As the criticism to her new dancing moves mounted, Sania Mirza was aghast that the video done in jest was being taken so seriously. She tweeted saying there were people who get negative on everything.

It was perhaps in that context Yuvraj Singh tweeted that the only objection he had was on their dancing skill.

Preeti Singh, July 21, 2015, Mumbai, NewsCrunch

In the gutter-dredging section of the media, of which your favourite NewsCrunch is an honourable member, hunting for viral content is a livelihood issue.

Anything that smells of viral, sniff, we pounce and latch on, liberally flicking off ideas from each other.

But writer and ex-dance judge Chetan Bhagat's plight is that nobody seems to be interested in watching his dancing performance despite the sheer comical value in it.

The esteemed judge of Nach Baliye 7 gave a live show on Sunday night during the final act. He descended on the stage on a prop and began stamping his hoof. He was surrounded by professional dancers, who tolerated his awkward  movements and feku steps.

They finally ended his agony by lifting him out of the stage.

Chetan Bhagat has been tweeting saying that he would be dancing for the first time and was terrified at the prospect. He practiced under professional guidance for up to three hours a day.

None of that mattered and on the D-day the man was a total let down.

It must have taken some thick skin to put on a show like that. And that is something Chetan Bhagat is blessed with. After his last week's article on the sexually frustrated bhakts, he was trolled mercilessly.

But none of that made any impact as he continued to train to deliver a totally non-viral performance.

Model and actor Milind Soman won the toughest triathlon in the world on Sunday in Zurich.

He swam for 3.8-km, took a 180.2-km cycle ride and then ran for 42.2-km to lift the Ironman title.

The man, who will turn 50 shortly, says he feels fitter today than he was 20 years ago.

In a short video, he explains his fitness mantra: no fancy workout, getting the basics right and being conscious of your health is what matters.

Milind Soman does not go to gym, nor does he run everyday. He likes to eat healthy food, but does not follow any dietary restriction except avoiding sugar. Monitoring what you eat is important, he says.

He was a swimmer when he was young, so he got a V-body. For youngsters obsessed with a Hrithik Roshan-body type, Milind Soman says more than the way it looks, the way it feels is important.

For the office drones, who the sit the whole day, he says it is important to take frequent breaks.  If you are thinking, walk around and do it. Go down the stairs and come up a few times before lunch.

Keep your body hydrated by sipping water every 15 minutes. But don’t keep a water bottle on your table. Force yourself to get up and walk for the drink, says Milind Soman.

A single tweet was all it took to enrage the Bhakt crowd, which went after Neha Dhupia disagreeing strongly. A few pointed out that the issue was a state subject, while Modi was the PM.

But for the majority of angry Bhakts, Neha Dhupia was a B grade actress, who was reviving a failed career by seeking publicity.

They compared her to Shruti Seth, who had opposed Modi’s Selfie With Daughter campaign and had been ruthlessly trolled.

Some dug up an alleged photo of Neha Dhupia’s father in AAP cap and said she had posted the tweet as she was anti Modi.

Many remarks were abusive, reinforcing the common notion that when Bhakts got angry, they went all out to attack.

Devotees of a Shiva temple at Nagapattinam district, Tamil Nadu, were recently stunned to see a monkey sitting and crying in front of the deity.

The monkey was sad, had tears in eyes and reportedly refused to eat anything for four days and eventually went away on its own. Tamil magazine Vikatan uploaded a video of the sad monkey in the temple, which has gone viral.

The incident took place at Vaitheeswaran Koil, a village famous for its naadi-shastra or palm lead astrology.

The village has a massive temple, where Shiva is worshipped as Vaitheeswaran, the "God of healing". The monkey visited the smaller Badrakali Amman temple in the same complex and spent time there.

The video shows a crowd building up to see the monkey. Many offer coconuts, bananas and other eatables to the monkey, which goes untouched. A woman is seen offering it flowers, while a man touches it with devotion.

The sad monkey is seen sitting clutching the wall and ignoring the commotion. When the priests locked the doors of the temple at night, they decided to leave the monkey inside. When they returned the next day, the monkey was still present, reports TheNews Minute.

The News Minute says the monkey ate some of the offerings, while the comments made by eyewitness elsewhere on social media, claim the monkey ate nothing.

After four days the monkey reportedly went away on its own. The video was uploaded on July 20, but it is not clear when the incident occurred.

A new superhero was born in Japan on Tuesday, Tengaman, who is dedicated to spreading the joy of sexual pleasure all over the world.

Draped in a reddish costume and equipped with a Vacuum Cup, Tengaman tackles those who cannot have orgasms and fixes them up.

Interestingly, Tengaman debuted on Tuesday, which many in Japan celebrated as the World Hand Job day.

Both Tengaman and the World Hand Job are the inventions of Japanese sex toy company Tenga, which makes its flagship product, Vacuum Cup, with which Japanese men jerk off in style.

Though Tenga had been toying with the idea of masturbation man for sometime, elegantly called Tengaman, the idea  saw the light of the day on Tuesday. Tenga released a 17-minute video which shows the adventures of Tengaman to ensure peace and orgasm.

Tengaman, as the story goes, was a B-grade journalist Ona Ittetsu, who was jerking off one day using Vaccum Cup, when an earthquake struck him down midway.

The dead journalist goes to some unknown place where the Goddess of pleasure, Volputas, sends him back to finish what he was doing.

Volputas also gives him a mission – to bring peace to the world by giving everyone sexual pleasure.

He designs a costume, which includes a mask and a vacuum cup.

His first enemy is a man called Herbivorous Man Fujimoto, who cannot have an erection at all. Tengaman uses his vacuum cup to jerk him off and changes his life for ever.

FBI had caught Rahul Gandhi at Boston in 2001, with
white powder and $160,000, says Subramanian Swamy

Sujay Ghosh, July 22, 2015, New Delhi, NewsCrunch

BJP leader Subramanian Swamy said in Jodhpur on Tuesday that FBI had caught Rahul Gandhi in Boston in 2001, with white powder and $160,000. Zee News quoted Subramanian Swamy saying FBI let him go after Vajpayee government intervened.

This is an accusation Subramanian Swamy has repeated made over the years. Though there are variants of this charge, this is what happened with Rahul Gandhi in 2001 at Boston, according to him.

Rahul Gandhi was arrested at Boston airport with 160,000 dollars in cash, which he had not declared. He was accompanied by his Colombian girlfriend Veronique Cartelli, a passport holder of Spain, and a daughter of a drug baron. Besides illegal cash, the couple was also carrying white powder.

They were detained for nine hours, when the Vajpayee Government told NSA Condolezza Rice that the issue would affect India-US relations. The US then let Rahul Gandhi go. Though the incident has been recorded, it is personal in nature and cannot be accessed under the US Freedom of Information Law.

Subramanian Swamy says he had written to Rahul Gandhi seeking permission to access the information, but there has been no response.

What bits of these claims are true or are they a part of an urban legend that get narrated whenever Subramanian Swamy feels bored?

There seems to have been an incident involving Rahul Gandhi at Boston airport in 2001.

Quoting sources in New Delhi, The Hindu reported on September 30, 2001, saying FBI had detained Rahul Gandhi for about an hour at the Boston airport in the last week of that month.

Rahul Gandhi was reportedly travelling from Boston to Washington when he was detained. The FBI agents did not let him go even after verifying his travel documents and learning that he was the son of a former Indian Prime Minister.

Sources told The Hindu that the Congress president Sonia Gandhi spoke to the Indian Ambassador Lalit Mansingh, who intervened and sorted out the matter.

This was in the US reeling under the shock of  9/11 that had taken place just two weeks earlier. Stopping anyone for questioning for an hour was routine.

Congress leaders made an issue issue out of it for a different reason. As Rahul Gandhi was under security cover, protocol required SPG to inform their counterparts in the US about his movements. As it had not been done, Congress saw it as a lapse in Rahul Gandhi's security.

However, the same Hindu report had inputs from its Washington correspondent, who said the Indian Embassy had no knowledge of the incident nor had Ambassador  Lalit Mansingh been asked to intervene.

It also said there was no security lapse as Rahul Gandhi opted out of SPG cover while in the US.

The Hindu report unfortunately is quiet on the Colombian girl friend or the drugs or the suitcase with $160,000.

Till they became Sarsanghachalaks Mohan Bhagwat and Balasaheb Deoras ate meat,

Sujay Ghosh, July 22, 2015, New Delhi, NewsCrunch

A recent article in RSS mouthpiece Organiser, which called IITs and IIMs anti-Hindu has triggered differences  within the tightly knit Hindutva organisation.

The article written by Sandeep Singh said IIT Roorkee was "anti Hindu" as it served non-vegetarian food in its canteen "in the holy city of Haridwar." He also cited several other reasons which purportedly made IITs anti-Hindu.

IIT Mumbai celebrated Kiss of Love while students at NIT, Rourkela, were "stopped" from holding Puja in community hall.

But it was the attack on the non-vegetarian food at IITs that created a furor even within RSS.

Dilip Deodhar, an RSS researcher, said eating meat did not make anyone anti-Hindu. Till they became Sarsanghachalaks Mohan Bhagwat and Balasaheb Deoras ate meat, he told Economic Times.

"Most RSS pracharaks ate non-veg food. There is nothing anti-Hindu about it,"  he added.

Dilip Deodhar, author of 42 books on RSS, is a respected name in the organisation.

Organiser Editor, Prafulla Ketkar acknowledged that many within RSS had objected to the article. He said the article was personal opinion of Sandeep Singh. He also denied that Organiser was the mouthpiece of RSS. It had been only inspired by the organisation, he said.

But RSS  has objected to IITs serving non-vegetarian food in the past as well. Last year, a group backed by RSS unit of Madhya Pradesh has written to Smriti Irani asking her to remove non-veg food from IITs and IIMs.

Non-vegetarian food would lead to the development of ‘Tamas’ (dark and unrighteous) nature among students,” the group had argued.

A pre-release publicity still from Sultan, in which Salman Khan plays a boxer (video below)

Preeti Singh, July 22, 2015, Mumbai, NewsCrunch

Salman Khan, who plays a boxer in his next Eid release, Sultan, will put on 8 to 10 kgs for the film.

This would be a first for Salman Khan, who is usually known to play himself, whatever the role given to him.

Unlike Aamir Khan, who balloons or slims to fit his varied roles, Salman’s looks and acting are usually a constant;  that is said to be the way his fans like him.

But in Sultan, he plays a 40-year-old Haryanvi boxer and the part requires him to bulk up his already muscular frame.

Salman Khan said in a recent interview that he will put on 8 to 10 kgs, but only muscle and no fat, for Sultan.

Commenting on his Sultan looks, he said, "I have to work a lot for this film, build lot of muscles. I have to be very strong."

The actor, who will be 50 when Sultan releases, said it would become a stressful film for him.

Sultan will see Salman Khan returning to his favourite genre, action, after two major social dramas Bajrangi Bhaijaan and his next release, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.

Sultan, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and produced by Yash Raj Films, will start shooting in November.  It will cast Salman Khan and Deepika padukone for the first time.

Interestingly, Salman Khan colleague Aamir is also bulking up for another Haryanvi movie, Dangal.

Abish Mathew new show on things women do while having sex is fun (video below)

Standup comic and AIB team member Abish Mathew’s latest act on the kind of things women do when groaning and moaning on the bed gets it right.

They yawn, check time, check Facebook, notice cobwebs, call pest control, pick teeth   -  do all of these while having sex.

The Abish Mathew performance at New York Comedy Club deals with the differences between the sexes especially when it comes to having sex.

Men have to focus and perform to ensure the act sustains beyond two minutes  - not really because they want to please their partner, but because they know women talk.

While men are hard at work, women multitask on bed as Abish Mathew shows with hilarious action.

The new stand-up act by Abish Mathew is a good comeback after the Delhi university fiasco, when he was booed out for his sexist jokes.

His jokes on domestic violence and Mayawati look-alikes drew an angry response from a group of students forcing him to leave mid way.

Andhra Pradesh's Gitam University authorities, who have just endured a media storm for their silly bus pass rules  are now facing a Change, org petition, which is urging them to switch on the ACs.

The petition signed by 1,200 students ask the officials to keep the AC on at the multi-story ICT or Chandrahaas building at Vishakapatnam. The online campaign, which started last week and has closed now, reminds the university officials that the temperature has not come down.

"It is extremely intolerable to sit throughout the day in such harsh conditions....even though we have paid fees, which cover the amenities such air conditioning, the authorities have not responded," states the Change.Org petition.

"Its a simple request, switch on our AC," it pleads.

The petition has also been posted on a Facebook-page related to the Gitam University, where it has drawn 70+ likes and a few comments.

It seems to be a long-standing demand of the students, which the university officials, known for their bureaucratic procedures, have ignored. Only the  principal and the heads of the department enjoy the AC relief from the Andhra summer, while the students and the regular staff seem to be sweating it out.

The Hyderabad branch of the University was in news recently as a rule they imposed while issuing the bus pass drew media attention. Rule number 5 of the pass asked boys and girls not to sit next to each other in the buses.

Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani has triggered a new controversy by rejecting the names proposed by the IIT-BHU Board of Governors for the post of the chairperson of the Institute.
Smriti Irani steps into one more IIT controversy

Sujay Ghosh, July 23, 2015, New delhi, NewsCrunch

Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani has triggered a new controversy by rejecting the names proposed by the IIT-BHU Board of Governors for the post of the chairperson of the Institute.

The Board had proposed five names, including former Nasscom chairman Kiran Karnik and former IIM Bangalore director Pankaj Chandra, reports The Telegraph.

Rejecting the entire list, Smriti Irani has opted for G.C. Tripathi, the vice-chancellor of Banaras Hindu University, as the chairperson of IIT BHU.

IIT-BHU was in another controversy sometime ago when it had to tried to make Kashi culture and mythology part of IIT curriculum.

By convention, the Board of Governors sends a list of names to the HRD ministry for the chairperson's post. The ministry picks one and forwards it to the President of India for approval.

IITs, which zealously guard their autonomy from the  government, emphasise on their independence to appoint key officials.

In March this year, nuclear scientist Anil Kakodkar had resigned as the chairman of the board of governors of IIT Bombay over his differences with Smriti Irani on the selection of IIT directors for Patna, Bhubaneswar and Ropar.

In December last year, IIT Delhi director R Shevgaonkar had sent his resignation citing sharp differences with the HRD ministry over certain issues.

As PM Modi gets ready to kick off his electoral battle in Bihar, he will almost come face-to-face with former aide Prashant Kishor, who is driving Bihar CM Nitish Kumar's campaign.

Thanks to Prashant Kishor, Nitish Kumar has already take a  lead on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and WhatsApp.

He has also deployed print and TV ads, billboards, LED-mounted trucks, led by an array of professionals, from analysts to copy writers, to power the JD(U) campaign.

Why did Prashant Kishor, a live-wire election strategist, quit Modi and join hands with his arch rival: Nitish Kumar.

Sankarsan Thakur at The Telegraph gives a definitive account of what soured between Modi and Prashant Kishor.

It was Modi who initiated Prashant Kishor, a WHO official, who was languishing in Chad, into politics. Modi sensed his talent in spreading the message and exploited it to the hilt.

Modi's brilliant  online campaign and offline strategies - from holograms to chai pe charcha -- were devised by Prashant Kishor.

In the course of the campaign, Prashant Kishor started living and working out of the top floor of Modi's official residence in Gujarat, which made him enjoy unlimited access to the chief minister. When BJP won with a bang, Prashant Kishor wanted to have a policy role, assuming that his access to Modi would continue.

In preparation for that Prashant Kishor floated an advisory body, Indian People's Action Committee (IPAC), which would would work closely with the Prime Minister on policy issues.

However, a powerful section of Modi aides, led by no less than Amit Shah, were not to keen on one more power centre emerging. Prashant Kishor blames them to getting him sidelined.

Suffering an anti-climax, Prashant Kishor approached former IFS officer Pavan Varma, who got him to Nitish Kumar, and who agreed to his conditions, including providing unlimited access.

Prashant Kishor now he lives and functions out of Nitish's official bungalow in Patna.
