Islamic preacher Zakir Naik has alleged that Times Now's Megha Prasad interviewed him twice, the second time more aggressively, interrupting him and trying to put words in his mouth. He also claims that in the first round, the interview was amicable and he had a chance to answer all questions. He also alleges Megha Prasad's superiors may not have been happy with it, prompting her to all him again, for a second round. Zakir Naik, who is in Mecca, recorded both versions of the interview on his mobile and released both purported versions.

Islamic preacher Zakir Naik has alleged that Times Now's Megha Prasad interviewed him twice, the second time more aggressively, interrupting him and trying to put words in his mouth.

He also claims that in the first round, the interview was amicable and he had a chance to answer all questions. He also alleges Megha Prasad's superiors may not have been happy with it, prompting her to call him again, for a second round.

Zakir Naik, who is in Mecca, recorded both versions of the interview on his mobile and released both purported versions.

In the first interview that lasts for 15 minutes, Megha Prasad is congenial, asks sharp questions and allows him to answer in the full.

Her focus is on the accusation that Zakir Naik has been inciting Muslims into terror. She cites a few instances, including the recent attack in Dhaka, where terrorists were found to be following him.

In his response, Zakir Naik says his Peace channel has 200 million followers and Facebook page, 14 million. He says he only inspires people to follow true tenets of Islam. However, he adds that  a small percentage of his followers may fall prey to other Islamic preachers, who spread terror.

He also goes on to condemn all terror attacks from 9/11 to Dhaka attacks and declares ISIS as anti-Islam.

Zakir Naik, who had been earlier ambivalent on 9/11, seems to have changed his position to come out against terror unequivocally.

The interview ends on a cordial note.

According to the audio recording released by Zakir Naik, Megha Prasad allegedly called him again and requested him to answer the questions saying there was a major technical problem.

Her focus was the same, the charge that Zakir Naik incited Muslim youth into terror.

But this time, she allegedly interrupted frequently and was heard saying - answer my question, listen to me, we are talking about you, not others.

Zakir Naik was quick to notice the difference between the two rounds and asked why she was interrupting him so frequently.

The interview looked more and more like a News Hour debate with both speaking simultaneously.

The questions got increasingly offensive and personal and Megha Prasad allegedly asked how Zakir Naik could sleep properly at night after having inspired people who are killing innocents.

The interview broke down after Megha Prasad allegedly told Zakir Naik, "You don't mind creating one (terrorist)".

Zakir Naik said Megha Prasad was putting words in his mouth and should be ashamed of herself. It was his turn to ask, how she could sleep at night (for putting words in his mouth.) "What kind of journalism is this, if you do not apologise, I will not continue."

Megha Prasad refused and the interview ended on a bitter note.

A photo published by Deccan Chronicle shows the hapless cobra with a string around its neck. The other end of the string is presumably tied to a post.

Deccan Chronicle informs that the incident took place on Sunday in the village of Lahangbahara in Chhattisgarh’s Korba district.

The farmer, Lahari Lal, was reportedly bitten by the cobra when he was tilling his land. In fury, he captured it, took it home, and kept it tied to a pole in his backyard.

It is not clear how Lahari Lal survived the extremely venomous bite of the Indian cobra. There is also no mention if he is a professional snake catcher as it takes a expert skill to capture Indian cobra.

The shocking death of globally renowned paranormal researcher Gaurav Tiwari has added to his mystique.

The founder of Indian Paranormal Society, Gaurav Tiwari, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the bathroom of his Dwarka flat last Thursday.

He had reportedly told his wife that a negative force was pulling him towards it and he
had been unable to control it.

His father Uday Tiwari, a non believer, said Gaurav’s wife thought he was depressed due to work overload and did not tell anyone about it, reports The Times of India.

Gaurav Tiwari knew that his choice of career carried some risk and had spoken about it in his last video recorded on May 26. He had run a live show on Facebook taking questions from fans.

He said paranormal was a fun, docile world that carried an occasional danger. There were spirits that did not want to be disturbed and turned hostile when that happened.

To a question, he said, yes, there were indeed spirits that could harm you.

But he also said he never took any protection from hostile spirits and gave an interesting explanation for that.

He said he was not a ghost hunter but a paranormal researcher. If he took protection, he would not be able to make contact with the ghosts as they would keep away.

Whether you believe in paranormal activity or not, there is no denying that Gaurav Tiwari was soaked in its pursuit.

He had reportedly worked on 6,000 `haunted' locations, UFO abductions and mysterious creatures. He was photogenic, knew how to communicate and was known in several countries, including USA and Australia.

In India, TV shows such as Haunted Weekends with Sunny Leone and MTV's girl's night out, Bhoot Aaya and Fear Files shot him to limelight.

Gaurav Tiwari’s foray into paranormal hunt was an accident. He had gone to Texas in 2006 to become a commercial pilot. He did not do well in the course and blamed it on the `haunted' flat where he was put up.

He left his training and became a certified expert on paranormal activity.

Delhi Police suspect that Gaurav Tiwari committed suicide but are clueless about the motive. The family says he had no reason to end his life.

Gaurav Tiwari reportedly fell down with a thud while using the bathroom on Thursday morning at 11 am. His  family members tried to resuscitate him in vain.

The story of Nimisha and Bexin Vincent, a Hindu-Christian couple, who converted to Islam and fled to to join ISIS has shocked Kerala.

Nimisha and Bexin Vincent now go by the name Fathima and Eza respectively and the the couple is among the the 21 individuals from Kerala, who have fled to join ISIS,

Nimisha's brother is an Army officer on deputation to NSG. Her father runs a restaurant in Thiruvananthapuram and her mother, Bindu Kumar, has been waging a valiant battle to get daughter back.

The last message Bindu Kumar received from Nimisha was on June 3. The message read   “Mom’s sweet daughter going to bed, kisses.”

The message was a cruel culmination of the radical changes Bindu Kumar had seen in her daughter beginning last November, which she had tried to stall with the help of police and courts, but in vain.

Nimisha’s parents first realised something was amiss, when she stopped taking their calls last November. When Bindu Kumar went to the Kasargode dental college to check, Nimisha told her that she had converted to marry a 30-year-old man, Bexin Vincent, a Christian MBA graduate from Palakkad.

Bindu Kumar told Manorama that Nimisha's conversion and marriage happened in just four days and blames her seniors for radicalising her and facilitating her marriage.

Bindu Kumar: A Kerala mother's desperate struggle to get her radicalised Hindu daughter back
Bindu Kumar approached local police and the newly married couple was produced before a local magistrate. He said they were adult citizens of the country and could take their own decisions in matters of religion and marriage.

Bindu Kumar then filed a habeous corpus petition at Kerala High court and the couple were brought to the court again. The court again what they had done was within their legal right.

The newly married couple shifted to Palakkad and after a few months of no contact, Nimisha started corresponding with her mother, She said she was happy and invited her to visit their home.

Bindu Kumar accepted the invitation and stayed for a few days in Palakkad.  She reportedly told Nimisha's in-laws that she did not mind her changing her beliefs, but just wanted her daughter back.

A few days after that Bindu Kumar came to know that her daughter was pregnant.

Nimisha went to Thiruvananthapuram and stayed with her mother for a few days.

Bindu Kumar noticed significant changes in her, reports The Hindustan Times. Though pregnant, she did not consult doctors saying she had lost faith in modern medicine. She had also stopped watching TV and was always covered in burqa.

A few days later, Nimisha called her mother from Palakkad and said she was going to Sri Lanka where her husband and his brother ran a business. She also said she would not be able to call her for some time, but would be in touch through WhatsApp.

After WhatsApp messages stopped, Bindu Kumar met senior Kerala cops and alleges that there was no progress in the probe. Her frantic efforts to find her daughter took a nasty turn when she came to know that Nimisha and Bexin Vincent were those who had fled to join ISIS.

Nimisha's husband Bexin Vincent's brother, who had also converted to Islam, is among the 21 missing, along with his wife. Their parents have also filed a case with the Palakkad police over their missing sons.

The Hindi publication Punjab Kesari has compiled a few photos that have gone viral in the last year or so. All taken from the wedding albums of ordinary people, who became famous, after they went viral.

A team of policemen in Karnataka have raised eyebrows by falling at the feet of a well-known spiritual leader, while in uniform.

They are seen in a video lining up and prostrating before Sri Shivakumara Swamiji, the head of Sree Siddaganga Mutt in Tumkur District.

A similar action by Odisha DGP Sanjeev Marik, who had touched the feet of a religius functionary, had earned him a reprimand by CM naveen Pattnaik.

Sri Shivakumara Swamiji is a highly revered spiritual leader of lingayats, whose educational institutions have nurtured poor talent across communities.

Yet, the cops in the video may be guilty of indiscipline for failing to maintain secular distance from religious personalities.

There are also steps built by the Maharashtra government dated to 2013. These are brick structures, which have crumbled in three years.

Shivaji built his steps with stone so that they would withstand the heavy downpour which Pratapgad fort, in Western ghats, receives every year.

Pratapgad fort, in Satara district, is located 23 kilometres from Mahabaleshwar, a popular hill station in the area.

Shivaji asked his prime minister, Moropant Trimbak Pingle, to build the fort, which was completed in 1656.

Three years later, the Battle of Pratapgarh between Shivaji and Afzal Khan was to be fought below this fort. Shivaji won the battle and laid the foundation for the Maratha empire.

While the viral photo seems to be true, it is not clear if it was the Maharashtra government or ASI, which built the new steps.

India Today senior journalist Rajdeep Sardesai had a facepalm moment on live TV while interviewing Sania Mirza and gracefully apolgosied for it.

Following the release of her autobiography 'Ace Against Odds' by Shahrukh Khan in Hyderabad, Sania Mirza and Rajdeep Sardesai were in a conversation on a wide range of topics, from her religion, to husband to sports.

Rajdeep Sardesai asked Sania Mirza when she would settle down and become a mother, saying she does not talk about that in the book.

Sania Mirza rebuked him saying if he thought she had not settled even after playing the game so successfully.

She said she faced the question all the time as people thought that a woman settled down only when she got married and had children.

“…No matter how many Wimbledons we win or number ones in the world we become, we don't become settled,” Sania Mirza said.

Rajdeep Sardesai realised his gaffe and immediately apologised saying he would never have asked this question to a male athlete.

Sania accepted it and said he was the first journalist to have apologised to her on national television.

She added that motherhood would eventually happen and when it did, she would be the first one to tell everybody.

Media had more questions to Yami Gautam about Shweta Rohira’s charge than Vogue event (video below)

July 14, NewsCrunch

Media caught up with Bollywood actress Yami Gautam, who has been accused of breaking the marriage of fellow actor Pulkit Samrat and his wife, Shweta Rohira.

And the encounter was not pretty.

In an interview on Wednesday, Shweta Rohira had squarely blamed Yami Gautam for stealing her husband.

Yami Gautam had to come face-to-face with the media at Vogue Wedding Show, where she had been enlisted as a showstopper and had gone dressed as a bride in a pink lehenga.

Naturally, media had more questions about Shweta Rohira’s charge than Vogue event.

Yami Gautam lost her cool but kept on smiling, opting  to show her edginess through words.

She refused comment saying it was a beautiful occasion and that the question on Shweta Rohira was disgusting.

She pointed out that Vogue was a world renowned brand and urged the journalists to focus on that.

But when the next journalist spoke it was back to square one.

This time Yami Gautam sounded a little upset and said she would keep repeating the same thing – that the question was disgusting – till the media switched topics.

Here is a prank video with logical ending.

A girl surprised by a boy waving snake, tumbles down from the steps, where she is sitting.

As she gets up, she mutters a few abuses and gives him a nice stinging slap.

We are never sure, which parts of the prank videos are fixed. But this one looks a bit natural.

The usually dull and predictable India Today has sprung a surprise with its cover art on Baba Ramdev for the story Power Yoga. The image shows Ramdev doing a front flip, with his chest coming out of his legs, spread apart. His bum is tightly wrapped in a saffron robe and is tilted up like a miniature peacock throne. Adding to the grotesque is the every strand of hair in his legs and chest, which is glistening to the camera light.
The India Today cover art unleashed a wave of creativity and Ramdev memes have exploded.
