A woman, who stepped out of her car during a safari at an animal park in Beijing, was dragged away by a tiger.

A CCTV footage, which recorded  the gruesome incident, has gone viral. There are multiple accounts of the event, with some reports claiming the woman was killed, while others stating she escaped.

The NYT gives a clear picture of the incident that occurred at Badaling Wildlife World in Yanqing County government last Saturday.

During the safari, the woman got down the car and crossed over to get in from the other door. It was when the CCTV caught a Siberian Tiger dragging her away.

Her husband and mother got down the car and chased after the tiger to try to save her. The mother got killed while rescuing her daughter, while the woman herself survived through with serious injuries.

The husband escaped without serious injuries and their child, which stayed put in the car, was also safe.

A few media reports said the couple had a fight, which prompted the woman to switch sides. A report in Beijing Times  refutes this account quoting a family friend, reports NYT.

The Badaling Wildlife World, which allows visitors to drive their own vehicles at a section, reportedly has poor safety record and seen many deaths of visitors.

A security guard who stepped out of a patrol vehicle had been similarly killed by a tiger in 2014.

Here is a possible definitive answer to an age-old question: Can you leave your phone charging through the night?

The gist of the rambling answer from Android Authority is, yes, you can. It won’t kill your phone.

The older phones before 2000 would heat up if kept plugged in overnight.

But mobile devices now run on lithium-based batteries and have no problem with that.

They stop charging after the battery reaches its full capacity and start using the connected charger as their primary power source.

So, when you get up in the morning, you start your day with a fully-charged battery.

There is a word of caution nevertheless. Each battery is capable of a finite number of charge-and-discharge cycles.

With each cycle, the capacity of the battery comes down a little. So, to extend the life of the battery, try to keep your battery’s charge level between 40 percent and 80 percent power.

That would mean, try not to leave them for charging overnight.

NDTV senior journalist Barkha Dutt wrote a Facebook post on Wednesday afternoon coming down heavily on Times Now editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami. Accusing him of seeking to gag the media, she asked if he was a journalist and said she was ashamed to be from same industry as him. She noted that while accusing a section of media as being pro-Pakistan, Arnab Goswami had been quiet on BJP and PDP alliance and Modi's own outreach to Pakistan.
Barkha Dutt’s Facebook post came in response to Arnab Goswami’s attack on Barkha Dut during News Hour programme (video below)

    July 27, 2016, NewsCrunch

NDTV senior journalist Barkha Dutt wrote a Facebook post on Wednesday afternoon coming down heavily on Times Now editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami.

Accusing him of seeking to gag the media, she asked if he was a journalist and said she was ashamed to be from same industry as him.

She noted that while accusing a section of media as being pro-Pakistan, Arnab Goswami had been quiet on BJP and PDP alliance and Modi's own outreach to Pakistan.

That made him a chamcha, she said.

Barkha Dutt’s anger was in response to NewsHour programme on Tuesday evening on 17th Kargil anniversary.

Arnab Goswami turned a homage to Kargil war heroes into war-cry against ‘pseudo liberals including a section of journalists,’ as he put it.

These sections have been vilifying army and paramilitary forces operating in hostile circumstances, he noted.

They had been openly echoing the Pakistani line over the last three weeks seeking to paint Wani as an innocent local boy butchered by security forces.

It was the same group that had backed those who chanted Bharat ki bardadi in JNU and had been drumming up campaign to support azadi, he charged.

Without naming Barkha Dutt, he said some of these pseudo journalists had given away operational details and movements of Indian armed forces when they were taking on terrorists.

Barkha Dutt has faced the charge of compromising with the security of Indian armed forces during the Kargil war with her reporting which revealed the locational details of the troops.

Arnab Goswami asked viewers to take on these people who compromised Indian our national security.
He also threatened to expose one by one in a ‘thought-out manner’ the pro-Pakistan lobby operating in India.

The NewsHour programme also trended #ProPakDovesSilent on social media.

In her response, Barkha Dutt said she did not give a toss for his opinion whether he took her name directly or indirectly.

She said hoped to be someone whose journalism he loathed.

“…The feeling is so utterly mutual that it would kill me to be on the same side of any issue as you,” Barkha Dutt wrote.

The re-tweet followed Times Now's News Hour show in which Arnab Goswami had attacked allegedly pro-Pakistani journalists.

Startup India had re-tweeted another post, which had attacked Barkha Dutt though without naming her.

Many Modi ministers have had a  testy relationship with media. The word 'presstitute' was coined by MoS V K Singh, and former HRD minister Smriti Irani was known for her frequent fracas with journalists.

After the Startup India re-tweets threatened to create a huge controversy, junior Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stepped in to control damage.

She posted eight tweets saying the account had been managed by an outside agency and was not authorised. She also said the employee had left job after the misdeed.

    July 28, 2016, NewsCrunch

Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor sparked off a new controversy by sharing an offensive photo on USpresidential candidate Hillary Clinton on Wednesday.

The photo shows her clenching her fist to cover her mouth while coughing. If stretched a bit, the photo suggests of oral sex and the caption has Hillary Clinton asking ‘Monica, if it is (done) right’.

The oral sex, Bill Clinton had allegedly received from White House intern Monica Lewinsky, was at the heart of the sex scandal that had rocked his presidency in the 1990s.

Rishi Kapoor’s ‘joke’ did not go down well, with many saying it was misogyny and slamming him for being a male chauvinist.

Though he stuck to his guns saying it was his forum and his prerogative to comment, Rishi Kapoor protested that many were calling him drunk.
