The three Chinese advertisements Magic Bra, Top Charming Bra, She's Mine Bra are more gadgets than simple inner wear. (Video below)
September 2, 2015, NewsCrunch

A nice, new video shows three Chinese bra advertisements to a few young Indian women and gets their frank and funny responses.

It appears that Indians and Chinese are as different as chalk and cheese even when it comes to their perception of the aesthetics of mammary glands.

The three Chinese advertisements Magic Bra, Top Charming Bra, She's Mine Bra are more gadgets than simple inner wear. They promise to puff up boobs and make them jiggly as well though in different ways. For Magic Bra you pull a string, for  She's Mine Bra you push a button.

Indian women are not dismissive outright - some say it could be fun wearing them. But the obsession the Chinese women seem to have for super-size boobs is missing here.

There are also practical considerations - what if the puffed-up boobs deflate when you are on a date with a hot guy.

Many are wary of Jiggly boobs  - imagine walking on a street with them!

Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi scrapped a plan to drop 2,000 pound bombs on Pakistan's nuclear sites after it threatened to attack Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) at Trombay.

Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission chairman Munir Ahmed Khan personally delivered the message to Indian nuclear scientist Raja Ramanna at a conference in Vienna, reports The Times of India.

Raja Ramanna quickly informed Indira Gandhi about the threat, who was also under pressure from the USA to drop the plan. She decided to back off.

BARC, the hub of Indian nuclear research, was too close to Pakistan and too important to be risked.

Indian media had recently reported on Indira Gandhi's plan to target Pak nuclear installations quoting a 12-page CIA document that has been made public.

When Indira Gandhi returned to power in 1980, Pakistan was in an advanced stage of developing nuclear weapons,

Indira Gandhi seemed to have planned a two-pronged strategy to counter the threat: Bolstering India's capability by green-flagging a 40-kiloton nuclear test and carrying out air strikes on Pakistan sites.

According to an account, an Indian Jaguar squadron had even begun practicing low-level flying with 2,000-pound bombs.

But as it turned out Indira Gandhi was not able to carry out any of these plans.

Staff correspondent,  September 2, 2015, NewsCrunch

Real estate in India has become so expensive, for the same money you can probably get a better deal in Europe.

India TV reports that the money you spend to buy a flat in New Delhi or NCR may fetch you a three-acre plot with a farmhouse in Spain.

The TV channel estimates that the average price for a modest flat would range Rs 30 to 40 lakh in NCR, which is also the going price of the smaller farmhouses in rural Spain.

It quotes a Barcelona-based website www.Aldeasabandonadas.com, which has listed several farmhouses at a starting price of Rs 38 lakh.

An average farmhouse comes with a three-bedroom house, barns, and 140,000 sq ft of farmland.

As Spainis reeling under a recession many people are leaving their villages in search of better prospects in the cities leading to a plunge in the real estate  market.

Several media outlets rushed to publish on Wednesday afternoon that Pakistan’s Federal Investigating Agency had arrested Tiger Memon, the main accused of 1993 Mumbai blasts.

After the serial blasts, Tiger Memon had escaped to Dubai, and is one of India's most wanted criminals.

Though there was no official confirmation, various publications from Khaleej Times to Zee News, reported the development, let us add, without verifying.

A senior Pakistani journalist Hamid Mir tweeted saying that the man who had been caught was just a namesake of Tiger Memon.

His real name is Furqan, who has been arrested for blackmailing girls through fake Facebook accounts.

With the completion of a short stretch on Sunday, the India–Myanmar–Thailand Trilateral Highwaynow lets you drive from Manipur to Thailand in less than 24 hours.

The Trilateral Highwaybecame a real idea on Sunday when Mynamar completed a 25.6-km-long stretch, which reduced the travel time between Thinggan Nyenaung and Kawkareik, from three hours to 45 minutes.

The landmark was considered important enough for the Myanmar Vice President and Thai Deputy Prime Minister to attend the inaugural ceremony.

The 3,200 km long Trilateral Highway connects Moreh, India to Mae Sot, Thailand.

The distance between Moreh and Mandalay, a historic and business centre in Myanmar, is 893 km, which is about a 11-hour drive.

From Mandalay to Mae Sot in Western Thailand the distance is 474.2 km, an estimated seven-hour drive.

Mae Sot, a trade hub, is 500 km away from Bangkok, another six hour drive.

So, if you leave Moreh at 6 pm tonight and drive continuously without waiting for the visa formalities, tomorrow same time you should be in Bangkok. All of the above estimates are based on Google maps and you can expect some variation.

The Trilateral Highwaybrings India, Myanmar and Thailand closer and is expected to help North-East fulfill its growth potential.

An increasing number of married Indian women are complaining about the lack of sex in their life, according to a report.

The Times of India interviewed Dr. Nisha Khanna, a leading psychologist and marriage counselor, who says the frustration of the dissatisfied women has become a source of discord in Indian families.

The culprits are men, who are too focused on their careers, and neglect the sexual needs of their partners. This is reportedly making many women seek extra-martial affairs to satiate their biological needs.

In an interesting role reversal, stressed out Indian men are seeking emotional connect within their families, while women are demanding more sex.

The report is anecdotal and based on the experience of one expert. There are indeed other data to show that Indian women have become sexually more assertive.

A Porn Hub survey recently reported that about one-third of its patrons from India are women. Indian women also spent an average of 8.34 minutes on Porn Hub sites per visit compared to 8.01 minutes by men from India.

Public Restrooms Around the World - a communal
toilet in China (not in video)

Staff correspondent, September 2, 2015, NewsCrunch

You can probably make out how developed a country is by looking at its public toilets.

Cut Video sent its producer Blaine to different countries to check out the status of their public restrooms.

He went to Shanghai, Adelaide, Tokyo, Bangkok, Dubai, Paris, Berlin, New Delhi and so on.  No surprises here;  the toilets in New Delhi are the worst. The lavatories are dirty and  come with broken mugs.

Elsewhere, they are swanky push-and-flush systems, which parade the local culture's civic sense. In Japan, they come with multiple buttons. One of them when pressed, squirts warm water  to clean your soiled bottom.

Is it unfair to compare New Delhi with Tokyo and even Bangkok? Ok, watch the video and compare with Bogota and Adis Ababa. In the sample captured, the shit prize goes to New Delhi.

A senior leader of Communist Party of India (CPI) Atul Anjan launched an all-out public attack on Bollywood actress Sunny Leone condemning her adult industry background, Bollywood roles and her famous Condom ad.

Atul Anjan, the national secretary of the CPI,  was speaking at a public rally in Uttar Pradesh's Ghazipur district on Tuesday. While mobilising support for Wednesday's Bharat bandh, he suddenly took  a  detour and went after Sunny Leone.

Here are the five highlights of his attack on Sunny Leone.

1) The attacks on Sunny Leone have come from right-wing and even centrist politicians such as Abhishek Singhvi. Atul Anjan is the first Left politician to take on Sunny Leone. He, however, does not seek to defend the Indian culture. He says Sunny Leone unleashes a sexuality which diminishes sensibility.

2) The funniest part of his attack is his claim that he does not watch porn films. But someone advised him to watch Sunny Leone's porn films, which he did perhaps reluctantly The kind of things she did made him vomit within two minutes.

3) Atul Anjan blames Mahesh Bhatt for introducing Sunny Leone to Bollywood. An adult actress has become a Bollywood heroine, he ruefully notes.

4) Atul Anjan specifically targets a condom advertisement Sunny Leone shot for Manforce. Manforce is a one-year old advertisement, and for  a man who claims to have watched Sunny Leone for only two minutes, Atul Anjan remembers finer details of the ad, including what Sunny Leone says in it.

5) Unfairly, Atul Anjan says Sunny Leone's condom advertisement would increase in the number of rapes in India

His story: Little Aylan Kurdi spent all of his three years amidst war, died trying to escape it

An illustration of little Aylan Kurdi by an Israeli artist Michel Kichka

Staff correspondent, September 3, 2015, NewsCrunch

Little Aylan Kurdi, whose death  is being mourned all over the world, spent all of his three years in the middle of war and strife.

His father Abdullah Kurdi worked as a barber in Damascus till 2011 when the civil war drove him out. He shifted to Kobani where Aylan Kurdi was probably born.

Kobani, in northern  Syria, quickly became the battle ground between ISIS and the Kurds.  ISIS managed to overcome heroic Kurdish resistance and captured the border town. But Kurdish militia with the help of US air cover took the town back, though  it was just a rubble by this time.

Aylan Kurdi probably lived through the strife, learning to duck whenever he heard an overhead plane or sniper fire.

Abdullah Kurdi again fled with his family - wife, Aylan Kurdi and his younger brother, to a refugee camp just across the border in Turkey. His quest to give a better life to his family continued.

His plea to migrate to Canada was turned down despite having local sponsors, on technical grounds, reports Global and Mail.

He paid 4,000 euros to human smugglers to get across to Greece just 20 kms away. The two dinghies, which were packed with refugees, were sunk by the waves. Abdullah Kurdi managed to hold on to his wife and two kids on the overturned dinghy.

His elder son Aylan Kurdi, died first, and he let him go to help the other two. Then his second child died and he let him go to help his wife.

When Abdullah Kurdi turned, his wife had also died.

Aylan Kurdi washed up later on a Turkish beach and an image of him lying face down became the dark spot of humanity.

Staff correspondent, September 4, 2015, NewsCrunch

Malayalam Muslim critic M M Basheer aborted a six-column series on Ramayana, which he was writing for  Matrubhumi.

The former professor of Calicut university said he was getting calls from people identifying themselves as Hindus and saying he did not have a right to write on Ramayana, reports The Indian Express.

Last year, Basheer had done another series dwelling on the godly-qualities of Rama and it had passed on without any incident. This  year he chose to write on Valmiki's interpretation of Rama. Valmiki treats Rama as human and questions many of his actions such as subjecting Sita to agni pariksha.

People who called Basheer were reportedly upset that a Muslim was criticising Rama treating him as an ordinary man.

The controversy found its echo on Twitter where many agreed with the sentiments of the Hindu groups in opposing a Muslim scholar writing on Ramayana.

The conservative Hindu opinion also asked if Basheer would dare to write critically about Islam  or Christianty.

Almost no one in this group went into the nuances of the issue and examined if Basheer had read Valmiki right.

However, there were also a few tweets in support of Basheer. One of them said India was not Saudi Arabia or Afghanistan to enforce that only Hindus could comment on Ramayana.

Staff correspondent, September 4, 2015, NewsCrunch

In his long political career, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about his clothes for the first time on Friday.

He dismissed that there was any fashion designer styling his clothes, which he liked "simple and sober".

"I don't know why people think I have a fashion designer who styles me. I only dress simple and sober,"IANS quoted him saying.

On his short-sleeve kurtas, he said, they kept him cool in Gujaratweather and were also easier to wash.

Modi shared this information while speaking to students on the eve of Teacher's Day in New Delhi.

Modi’s comments on his dressing sense are contrary to the media perception that he is one of the most stylish politicians India has produced. After Modi took over as the PM, he was heralded as a fashion icon by both Indian and International media.

While blessed with a good taste in clothes, Modi did go overboard occasionally. For instance, he was seen wearing the infamous “Rs 10 lakh suit” when Obama came to India. The suit had Narendra Damodardass Modiwritten all over in golden-colour  thread and had sparked off a huge controversy.

Here are a few media headlines on the frequent fashion statements made by Modi.
