Sonu Nigam and Atif Aslam sing for Indo-Pak peace in Dubai (Watch video)

Sonu Nigam and Atif Aslam’s joint concert at Dubai on Thursday sent a message of peace to the people of India and Pakistan. The two singers shared stage and performed a jugalbandi for five hours recreating vintage Bollywood, Qawali and Ghazal hits. Sonu Nigam sung songs from Pakistani legends Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Reshma, while Atif Aslam performed Mohammad Rafi, Kishore Kumar and Jagjit Singh hits.

Sonu Nigam and Atif Aslam’s joint concert at Dubaion Thursday sent a message of peace to the people of Indiaand Pakistan.

The two singers shared stage and performed a jugalbandi for five hours recreating vintage Bollywood, Qawali and Ghazal hits. Sonu Nigam sung songs from Pakistani legends Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Reshma, while Atif Aslam performed Mohammad Rafi, Kishore Kumar and Jagjit Singh hits.

A 30-minute grainy video of the concert shows Sonu Nigam not at his best and Atif Aslam, plainly jittery.

But the message both of them sought to send was heart warming.

Speaking at a press conference prior to the event, the artistes said people of both the countries should  "leave politics for those who play the game."


Responding to a question on Phantom, the ultra-jingoistic Indian movie, which has been banned in Pakistan, Sonu Nigam said he and Atif Aslam would show how two artistes, from Indiaand Pakistan, could share a stage in the name of unity.

“This concert will set an example of how the community needs to behave,” Emirates 247 quoted him saying.


Atif Aslam said music transcended petty politics.

Anger on Twitter after MNS stages meat protest in Mumbai

MNS workers intensified their protest against meat ban on Saturday by staging a meat toran or garland protest in front of a Jain temple in Mumbai.

A group of workers made meat garlands, which were really chunks of meat tied to a string, and protested in front of a temple. Some of them also burnt meat on the spot.

The Jain community, which is in the middle of its Paryushan fasting ritual, was shocked.  A few Jain leaders had sought a ban against animal slaughter for a few days during Paryushan saying killing and the sight of meat went against the sentiments of the festival.

In response Mumbai civic bodies had banned meat for four days in Mumbai and for eight days in the Mira-Bhayander area.

Though meat had been banned for two days in the past, the extended prohibition angered many political parties and the people as well.

On Thursday, Shiv Sena and MNS workers defied the ban by selling chicken meat in the busy Dadar area.


But on Saturday MNS’ meat garlands protest angered many on Twitter. Here’s a sample response.

Star India’s OTT platform Hotstar has just commissioned RJ Malishka to produce a 60-minute talk show.

She had invited Katti Bhatti pair Imran Khan and Kangana Ranaut to feature in the first episode.

So, what do Bollywood stars mean when they say someone is a “good friend”, she asked.

“Good friend”, is an euphemism used by Bollywood stars to deny affairs.

The outspoken Kangana Ranaut was honest. She started saying “good friends” meant f#@ck buddies.

The ever diplomatic Imran Khan tried to intervene saying “good friends” meant somewhere between friendship and romance.

Kangana Ranaut cut him short saying good friends meant f#@ck buddies little promoted.

Malishka says M Bole Toh will cater to the demands of Bollywood fans, who are keen to know more about stars.


She will chat with stars, who will share funny behind-the-scene anecdotes and pranks as well as offer insights into their personal lives.

Indian Christian activist John Dayal, who has a hostile relationship with Hindutva supporters, got into a major Twitter clash with them on Saturday.

As the trolls descended taunting John Dayal on cases of sex abuse in Church, he was seen swinging sword in both arms in Jedi style to fend off the attack.

As they say, it all started on Friday when someone sought his response on a report on sexual misconduct of priests.


John Dayal’s response was swift and hard hitting. He wondered why Khakis - meaning RSS or Hindutva supporters - were fixated with deviant sex.

That opened the floodgates for trolls to take him on a range of issues but focusing mostly on the sex scandals of the Church. John Dayal took the battle to troll camp challenging them to outgrow their fake names, among other things.

Billy Crystal has revealed the behind-the-scene story of one of Hollywood's iconic comedy scenes from the 1989 movie When Harry Met Sally.

In the scene Meg Ryan fakes a loud orgasm in a crowded restaurant. After her orgasms end, an elderly woman at the next table turns to the waiter and says: "I'll have what she's having."

In his autobiography Still Foolin''Em, which released last Thursday, Billy Crystal says it was not an easy scene to shoot as Meg Ryan kept underplaying it.

An exasperated director Rob Reiner gave a demo on how to do it. He sat opposite to Billy Crystal and began shouting and banging the table in sexual ecstasy. Meg Ryan still took an entire day to get the mufled screams right.

The orgasmic scene, was filmed at Katz's Deli in New York. The elderly woman incidentally was Rob Reiner's mother Estelle.

BJP speaks up, more pressure on Rajinikanth not to play Tipu Sultan on screen

BJP has come out in support of Hindu Munnani, which has asked Rajinikanth to steer clear of the Tipu Sultan movie, Karnataka MLA and entrepreneur Ashok Kheny is planning to produce. Senior BJP leader L Ganesan told The Hindu that as Rajinikanth, was a true patriot, he would not act in the movie.

Senior Tamil Nadu BJP leader L Ganesan told The Hindu that as Rajinikanth was a true patriot, he would not act in the movie.

He also supported Hindu Munnani leader Ramagopalan's view that Tipu Sultan was anti-Tamil, saying it was based on historical facts.

Ashok Kheny recently announced that he was reviving the stalled Tipu Sultan project and would try to get Rajinikanth to play the lead role. Even before Rajinikanth could react to the statement, Ramagopalan opposed the project saying Tipu Sultan had attacked Tamils during his rule.

In Karnataka, Tipu Sultan is a faultline that divides the  Hindutva and secular groups. The Hindutva groups  consider Tipu Sultan as a fanatic Muslim king, while the secular groups hold him as a progressive king, who fought the British seeking independence.

Ashok Kheny, the promoter of the Bangalore Mysore Infrastructure corridor project, is known for his wealth and perseverance.

Three years ago he had told The Times of India that he wanted to make a grand movie on Tipu Sultan on the scale of Attenborough's Gandhi.

He had reportedly planned to approach Rajinikanth earlier as well, but could not do so as the actor was unwell at the time.

Two guests came to blows at IBN Live's "Aaj Ka mudda'' programme following a heated debate on Radhe Maa.

Swami Omji Maharaj, a right-wing Hindutva leader, and well known astrologer  Deepa Sharma lost their temper and clashed before the camera.

It started  when Swami Omji Maharaj told other panelists to correct themselves before they could criticise Radhe Maa.

He went on to make provocative comments on Deepa Sharma, a fellow panelist, who lost her cool and slapped him. He gave a counter slap and soon both were seen grappling and shouting at each other.

IBN 7 condemned the incident as deplorable and said it did not expect its honourable guests to behave like this.

Deepa Sharma is a popular astrologer, who features frequently on TV. Swami Omji Maharaj is a well-known Hindutva leader  who had made controversial comments on Arvind Kejriwal during Delhi polls early this year.

He is also a disciple of Sri Shobhan Sarkar, who had dreamt that huge quantities of gold had been buried under a fort in Unnao.

PTI reported that N K Singh, general secretary of Broadcast Editors Association,  disapproved of the incident.

"The purpose of such shows is to give information from both sides and let viewers make a decision. This is shameful," it quoted him saying.

Does Mia Khalifa deserve this buzz? Big Boss fans would say so.

The 23-year-old Lebanese-American is the World’s Number 1 adult star with a huge following. Her rise has been astonishing.

She debuted last October and took just two months to rise to the top.

Bahubali getting bigger release than PK in China; to release in 5,000 screens

China’s major distributor E Stars Films, which has acquired mainland China rights of Baahubal is planning to release the movie in 5,000 screens. That is, nearly one-fifth of the theatres in China will show the poster of Bahubali carrying Shiv ling when it releases.

China’s major distributor E Stars Films, which has acquired mainland China rights of Baahubal is planning to release the movie in 5,000 screens.

That is, nearly one-fifth of the theatres in China will show the poster of Bahubali carrying Shiv ling when it releases.

PK, which had earned over 100 crores in China had released in 4,600 screens. But Aamir Khan is a known brand in China, while Bahubali is riding on sheer merit.

On Sunday Varietyhad reported that E Stars Films had acquired the China mainland rigthts of Bahubali from Arka Mediaworks, which made the super hit movie.

Arka is also negotiating with top distributors to release Bahubali in other parts of the world including Latin America.

The international edition of the movie would be 20 minutes shorter than the Indian version.

Topless Femen women stage surprise protest against conservative Muslim Conference in Paris (With protest video)

Two topless women protesters disrupted a Muslim conference near Paris, which was discussing the role of women in Islam.

As two Imams led the discussion, two members of the feminist  group Femen stormed the stage shouting slogans.

As a video, which went viral, shows one of them  had written on her breasts- Nobody makes me submit.

The two Imams, who were taken by surprise left the stage. A group of men, including security guards, rushed to the stage and evicted the women violently.

Femen alleged that the women, one from Algeria and another from Tunisia, were beaten up  and kicked, off camera, till the police rescued them.  

Femen defended its protest saying it opposed oppression of women.

The conference, which was allegedly being held to articulate a conservative line on the role of women, had become controversial. Media reports said 6,000 people had signed an online petition against the event.
 
Formed in 2008 in Ukraine Femen now operates from Paris. Its members hold controversial topless protests against sex tourism, religious institutions, homophobia and other social topics.

About a year ago, US-based fashion merchandiser Nisha Kapashi, just 27, decided to become a Jain nun.

Since taking diksha with her family support in January this year, she has been living Asansol, West Bengal, as a Jain monk.

Born in USA, but raised in Mumbai, Nisha Kapashi went to study at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York.

She also studied in Florence, Italy, before starting work as a fashion merchandiser for J Crew.

During her college days, Nisha Kapashi had begun to attend lectures at the Jain Center of America, which increasingly sounded more relevant than what she was doing.

In the video below she explains why she decided to give up the material world and become a nun.

She realised that she was a timeless soul and not just a body that would live for a few years on earth.
But here she was spending every ounce of her energy on acquiring comforts for the body.

Nisha Kapashi then started contemplating on what would give her soul everlasting happiness and decided to take diksha.

Cricketer Chris Gayle, has set social media imagination on fire  by sharing photos of his bed room at his Jamaican home. The mansion-size room comes with a stripper pole, a king size ''hanky  panky'' bed and a two-way see through mirror on the ceiling.

The stripper pole picture, which he posted on Instagram, first went viral.

The photo shows Chris Gayle in shorts taking a selfie, standing in front of his bed. There is a stripper pole and a red-haired lady in the frame, who has turned her back away, to face the wall.

The caption reads, you are not a cricketer till you have strip club in your bed room.

The next photo, Chris Gayle posted gave a close up of his bed and the caption was even more tantalising. He said the bed had a dent as a guest had just had a ball in there. He also said he could not wait for his friend to fly in for the party.

"I need to score a triple century tonight," he added.

The international media picked up the photos commenting feverishly on them. For the record, Chris Gayle became the first Cricketer to be featured by  Brazilian sports media.

The conservative British daily The Daily Telegraph reported on the stripper pole photo noting Chris Gayle had a "...Penchant for a good night out along with his insatiable appetite for the opposite sex."

Sex is among the favourite topics Chris Gayle likes to touch upon on social media. Recently, he had tweeted that his sex life was in pause mode due to a surgery on his back.

In an interview with The Hindustan Times, the Bollywood superstar who plays a macho role in Dangal, says, “I am a sucker for Mills & Boon stories.”

He says Katti Bhatti reminds him of highly romantic, intense and obsessive moments of his life, but was unwilling to elaborate further.

After watching Katti Bhatti Aamir Khan was seen wiping his eyes with a thick Turkey towel. He says while watching the movie, he started getting emotional and asked his boy to get him something to wipe his eyes. The boy got him the towel.

Indian media has burst out with reports that  Hrithik Roshan former wife Sussanne Khan is all set to marry his close friend.

The close friend has been unnamed but publication after publication is rehashing the story.

Even the top guns India Today, The Indian Express, Zee, DNA, ABPhave joined the bandwagon  besides the dotcoms, which usually publish anything that comes their way.

As we dug around, we found that the story reported on Monday by India TV, had gone unnoticed.

The Times of India turned that into a slideshow this morning giving it a boost.

India TV said “according to reports”, without mentioning which, Sussanne Khan was marrying Hrithik Roshan’s close friend.

Without naming the close friend, it said he had been earlier blamed for the split of the star couple.

The flurry of reports that followed had nothing new to add. They also made no effort to get a confirmation. But report, they all did, churning out the same old wives tale one after the other.

A policeman Manoj Barahate, who was on duty at Kumbhmela in Nashik, jumped from a 20-feet tall Amardham bridge to successfully save a drowning man.

A video, which captures Manoj Barahate’s bravery, shows a middle-aged man in white shirt moving dangerously close to the edge of the bridge. He tries to cross over the iron railings to jump into the water to end his life.

A police team, which is on patrol tries to pull him back, but he escapes their grip and falls into the water flowing below.

The video shows policemen and onlookers running in confusion. Some of them dash to the across the bridge to get to the water blow.

In comes Manoj Barahate, who quickly removes his wallet and mobile phone, and jumps into the water below.  


His action was caught on camera and was widely appreciated. Nashik’s Municipal Commissioner Praveen Gedam tweeted about his bravery and shared his photo.

Praveen Gedam also noted that policemen were doing an outstanding job helping pilgrims at the Kumbhmela. Many of the were standing in the water for hours forming a human chain to prevent pilgrims from straying too far into the water, he noted.

Manoj Barahate's bravery is similar to the incident in which Punjab DSP Gurmit Singh Kingra jumped into Bathinda canal to save teachers after lathi charging them.

Indian fans reacted with more anger than disappointment after adult star Mia Khalifa denied the rumours that she was considering an offer from Big Boss.

She posted a blunt tweet saying she would never step foot in India. The person, who spread the word that she was considering an offer from Big Boss should be fired, she added.  

It was not clear what made Mia Khalifa post a denial, which many found offensive.

As some of her American fans pointed out India's global image as a country with a poor record on women's rights may have prompted her tweet.

Mia Khalifa, who is a history graduate, can be quite blunt on Twitter. She had a exposed US football star Duke Williams, a few months ago, after he tried to get fresh with her by sending repeated direct messages.

But Mia Khalifa's Indian fans reacted with anger sending counter tweets slamming her. Here is a sample:

A dog called Ettore is breaking the Internet after a video showing it profusely apologising to its owner Anthony Federica Grana went viral.

The video shows Ettore almost saying he is very sorry for what he has done. It is so adorable it has been seen 14 million times on Anthony Federica Grana’s Facebook page.

So, what was his crime? He likes to scratch the furniture and had been warned against it. This time Anthony caught Ettore digging a hole in the couch and gave him a tongue lash.

It was too much for the sensitive Ettore to take and he went to apologise begging for forgiveness.


Well, Anthony wanted to teach him a good lesson and did not want to forgive him easily.

"Are you asking me to forgive you? You are wrong, Ettore. Ettore, you are wrong. No. No. No. Do you understand where you made the mistake?" he says.


Anthony persists in his refusal for sometime, but as Ettore presses in climbing all over him, he gives in.

Antony and Ettore hug and make up.  They live in Massa, Central Italy.

Video: Watch Kerala woman falls through Tamil Nadu bus floor and survives miraculously

In a freak accident, a Kerala woman fell through the floor of a bus, but survived as the vehicle passed over her.

The floor of the green-colour bus, belonging to the Tamil Nadu Government gave in; the passenger identified as Swati, 30, dropped out of the moving bus.

A CCTV camera that recorded the horrific accident shows Swati falling out of the floor behind the rear wheel; so she was extremely lucky not come under them.

But NDTV reports that the fall was severe enough to land the unfortunate woman in hospital with a broken shoulder.

The accident occurred at Punalur, a town in Kerala’s Kollam district, which borders with Tamil Nadu

Sub-inspector caught on camera stealing CFL bulbs is reportedly mentally ill (With video)

The sub-inspector, who was caught on camera stealing two CFL bulbs from a shop in Jammu, is said to be mentally ill. The video, which had recorded his act, had gone viral.

The sub-inspector, who was caught on camera stealing two CFL bulbs from a shop in Jammu, is said to be mentally ill.

The video, which had recorded his act, had gone viral.

A CCTV footage shows Sub-Inspector of Excise, Vikas Khajuria, parking his scooter, and stealing CFL bulbs from outside the shop in Nanak Nagar area.

The police have arrested him and are probing the case.

Vikas Khaujuria is reportedly mentally ill and facing few other inquiries in the Excise department, reported PTI.
