Ramzan, the boy from Pakistan, who is stranded at an NGO-run shelter in Bhopal, is upset that his mother refused to come to India to fetch him.

Indian envoy T C A Raghavan met his mother Razia Begum in Karachi and invited her to come to India to visit her son and take him back, if Pakistan could prepare his travel papers by then.

For Ramzan to go back to his country quickly as he desperately wants to, the diplomats of both the countries need to match their steps.

Jaipur police forced organizers of Third Jaipur Art Summit at Jawahar Kala Kendra to dismantle a plastic cow installation saying it hurt sentiments of people.

The cow made of  styrofoam had been floated at a  height of 50 feet in air with the help of a hot air balloon.

Two artists, Anish Ahluwalia and Chitan Upadhyay, who protested police action, were also reportedly detained at Bajaj Nagar station. However, police said the artists had been only called to the station to explain that the art object was sending a wrong message.

Media reports also quoted Station House Officer (SHO) of Bajaj Nagar police station Mahendra Gupta saying the installation was not art and was sending a wrong message.

The art work titled The Bovine Divine was made by noted artist Siddharth Kararwal to caution people against carelessly discarding plastic as they were proving to be detrimental to the animals especially cows, which ate them.

After the installation was dismantled and kept in a room, members of a right wing group gathered at the venue to protest. They pulled out the cow, garlanded and worshiped it, while chanting “Gai humari mata hai” and “Gau mata zindabad”.

Suraj Soni, the Jaipur coordinator of People for Animals, who objected to the art work told The Hindu that the plastic cow had been hung by its neck.

"I found it disrespectful because it looked like the cow had been hanged to death. Also, there was no slogan accompanying the art work and one could easily misconstrue the installation as a portrayal of cruelty on animals.”

Smriti Irani has taken on the media
similarly in the past as well.
November 23, 2015, NewsCrunch

Union Minister Smriti Irani continued with her frosty relations with media by launching a fullscale attack on an Economic Times reporter on Monday.

ET had carried a report stating Smriti Irani had made 5,100 recommendations to admissions at Kendriya Vidyalaya schools, a four-fold jump from her predecessors.

It also note that the government was looking into why only 3,000 of these recommendations had been honoured. The report filed by Anubhuti Vishnoi was based on an unnamed source, who had attended a board meeting on October 30.

In an adjoining opinion column ET had criticised Smriti Irani for continuing the patronage system despite Modi calling for a professional approach in governance.

Taking offense Smriti Irani accused Anubhuti Vishnoi of lying and having an agenda. By tweeting, she said, she was making her contempt for the report public. She also added that readers like her had stopped subscribing to ET because of reporters like Anubhuti Vishnoi.

Smriti Irani has taken on the media similarly in the past as well. When The Hindu reported that the government had made a U-turn on German language, she tweeted saying she did not expect the newspaper to report truth.

The audience at an Aaj Tak show revolted after she paraphrased a question from anchor suggesting it was sexist in nature.

Karma’s kissing record remains unbroken even after 81 years (video below)
November 23, 2015, NewsCrucnh

The Indian censor board has edited kissing scenes in Spectre saying they were too long.

But a movie made in 1933, Karma, had its lead pair Devika Rani and Himanshu Rai kissing for 4 minutes, a record that remains unbroken even after 81 years.

The film came after just two years of Alam Ara, which heralded the talkie era. It was also the first in Indiato feature an on-screen kiss, which created a stir with many orthodox elements protesting its impact on Indiaculture.

But the filmmakers justified the kissing scene saying the English and Hindi movie was meant for an international audience.

It also helped that the lead pair Devika Rani and Himanshu Rai had been married for 3 years when the movie released.

The story is about a princess (played by Devika Rani) ,who falls in love with a neighbouring prince (Himanshu Rai), against the disapproval of her father.

The movie was directed by Freer Hunt, who also wrote the screenplay along with Rai.

The movie had a runtime of 68 minutes and met with lukewarm reception despite the buzz it created.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal clarified on Monday that it was the RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, who had hugged him, and not the other way round.

Many of his detractors, including Yogendra Yadav and Shanti Bhushan, have criticised Kejriwal for the hug and show with Lalu at Patna. Delhi BJP has also put out posters showing photos of Kejriwal hugging Lalu.

AAP had criticised Lalu’s corruption in Bihar and Kejriwal himself had tweeted against it.

Kejriwal made the remarks at the party's National Council meet on Monday while seeking to defend his anti-graft credentials.

He said Lalu, who was on stage during Nitish Kumar's swearing in, hugged him and raised his hand.

Kejriwal insisted that he would continue to oppose Lalu’s corruption and dynastic politics.

A video of the event seem to vindicate what Kejriwal is claiming. It shows the Delhi CM wary of getting too close to Lalu, who pursues and nails him with a hug.

He said she was afraid of opening the newspapers and feared for the future of their child.

There was a growing sense of despondency and depression in him, he added. Aamir was referring to the incidents of violence in the last seven or eight months, which he described as alarming.

The superstar was speaking at the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards. He addressed a room full of top journalists and senior politicians from different parties drawing applause almost continuously.

Express scion Anant Goenka struggled to steer the conversation, but Aamir had come prepared to say what he wanted to.

While the media reports have highlighted Aamir’s comments on Kiran, his arguments were much more nuanced.

He supported artists returning awards saying everyone had a right to protest in any manner as long as it was non violent. The alarming number of incidents had prompted them to speak out, he said

He said people need assurance that the justice system worked to punish the guilty and elected representatives stood there to protect everyone.

When asked if he would become more articulate to represent moderate Muslims, he said as an Indian he would represent everyone not just Muslims.

“My birth may be in a Muslim household, but I speak for everyone,” Aamir said.

The controversial statements made by Aamir Khan was witnessed by five Union Ministers - Venkaiah Naidu, Najma Heptulla, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Rajiv Pratap Rudy and Arun Jaitley.

The ministers had been invited to the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards event on Monday in New Delhi, where Finance minister Jaitley had come as the chief guest.

Aamir Khan slammed the growing intolerance in the country and said his wife Kiran Rao was so upset, she even wanted to leave the country with her child.

None of the union ministers reacted to Aamir Khan’s comments though Jaitley was seen leaving when Aamir Khan was speaking.

It raised many an eyebrow and as The Telegraph reported, “…Jaitley walked out while Aamir was in full flow. It was unclear whether the finance minister had a prior appointment.”

As it turned out Jaitley indeed had a prior appointment and left on schedule. His departure, which looked abrupt, had nothing to do with Kiran wanting to quit India.

Before Express’s Ananth Goenka started  his session with Aamir Khan, he handed over the mike to Jaitley saying he would have to leave soon,  and asked for his response on celebrities speaking out on issues.

Jaitley said he had no problem with that as long as they were thoughtful and refrained from maverick speeches.

now official Number 3
November 25, 2015, NewsCrunch

When PM Modi and his senior most minister Rajnath Singh were both out of the country for three days, it was Sushma Swaraj, who functioned as the "Acting Prime Minister."

Modi was away in Malaysia and Singapore, when Rajnath left for his China visit.

The so-called "Acting Prime Minister" status has no constitutional recognition and is only an administrative arrangement.

It is also a relic of the past as in the present-age of real-time communication, the PM is never beyond reach.

The "Acting Prime Minister" can do nothing more than presiding over cabinet meetings.

When Modi went to Brazil in May 2014, his first foreign trip, he did not bother to designate Rajnath Singh as the Minister in charge. A circular to the effect followed only when he went out again, to the  US in September 2014.

Of course, the designation  has political significance and shows the PM's comfort level with particular ministers. And for Sushma it signifies a remarkable turnaround.

For someone, who was seen as an Advani follower and Modi detractor, she has managed  to build a healthy equation with the Prime Minister.

That leaves Arun Jaitley, a close confidante of Modi,  at number four position. The cabinet secretariat's website sets out the pecking order among Ministers - Rajnath, Sushma, Jaitley, Venkaiah Naidu, Nitin Gadkari, Manohar Parrikar and Suresh Prabhu, notes reports The Telegraph.
