The acquittal of Salman Khan in the 2002 hit and run case has been criticised as proof that justice can be bought in India.

So, how much did he spend on his legal defence? His father Salim Khan says Rs 20 to 25 crore.

The money has been spent over 13 years on the most expensive lawyers of the country. Harish Salve, the legal star, who got him bail after conviction at Mumbai lower court is known to charge up to Rs 30 lakh a hearing.

Salim Khan mentioned the Rs 20-25 crore number offhand to emphasise that Salman Khan had not got away easily.

He told PTI that Salman Khan has been in jail for a few days, paid a hefty legal fee and undergone a lot of tension, along with the family.

In a blog post made on Friday night, Google CEO Sundar Pichai called for support to Muslims and other minority communities in the US and around the world.

He made the post in response to Republican candidate Donald Trump’s suggestion that Muslims be banned from entering the United States.

Pichai says he hesitated to go public with his thoughts as “… Criticism of intolerance just gives more oxygen to this debate.”

He gave his own example to show how America had given him a chance to build his life, career and family with its open-mindedness and tolerance.

Arguing that hearing different voices was the strength of both USA and Google, he said, he was working to make his company more diverse.

Pichai grew up in India and came to the US22 years ago. He was named CEO of Google in August.

Full text of Google CEO Sundar Pichai’s statement on tolerance, open-mindedness and diversity

I came to the USfrom India22 years ago. I was fortunate enough to gain entry to a university here, and time after time, I saw that hard work opened other doors. I have built a career and a family and a life here. And I've felt as much a part of this country, as I felt growing up in India.

My experience is obviously not unique. It's been said a million times that America is the "land of opportunity" --- for millions of immigrants, it's not an abstract notion, but a concrete description of what we find here. Americaprovided access to opportunities that simply didn't exist for many of us before we arrived.

And it's not just about opportunity. The open-mindedness, tolerance, and acceptance of new Americans is one of the country's greatest strengths and most defining characteristics. And that is no coincidence -- America, after all, was and is a country of immigrants.

That is why it's so disheartening to see the intolerant discourse playing out in the news these days --- statements that our country would be a better place without the voices, ideas and the contributions of certain groups of people, based solely on where they come from, or their religion.

I walk around the campus where I work and see a vibrant mix of races and cultures. Every one of those people has a different voice... a different perspective... a different story to tell. All of that makes our company an exciting and special place to be, and allows us to do great things together. We are urgently working to become much more diverse, because it's so important to our future success. I firmly believe that whether you're building a company or leading a country, a diverse mix of voices and backgrounds and experiences leads to better discussions, better decisions, and better outcomes for everyone.

I debated whether to post this, because lately it seems that criticism of intolerance just gives more oxygen to this debate. But I feel we must speak out --- particularly those of us who are not under attack. Everyone has the right to their views, but it's also important that those who are less represented know that those are not the views of all.

Let's not let fear defeat our values. We must support Muslim and other minority communities in the USand around the world.

He was taught yoga by a relative to help him overcome his health problems. Along the way, B K S Iyengar realised that he was a gifted communicator, who could teach intricacies of Patanjali Yoga to rank newbies.

During his long career he developed an illustrious band of followers, which could boast of names like Aldous Huxley, Yehudi Menuhin and Quen Elizabeth of Bekgium.

His personal commitment to Yoga, which made him practice daily with all the zeal of a rookie, remained till he passed away last year.

Australia’s most famous cartoonist Bill Leak drew a racist cartoon on Monday showing Indians in bad light.

Bill Leak, who is a cartoonist for The Australian, owned by Rupert Murdoch, was trying to criticise India’s stand in Paris Climate meet.

The cartoon shows thin Indians wearing turbans, who are so starving they are trying to eat solar panels.

India took a tough stand at Paris meet asking rich nations to change their lifestyle. It said it will continue with its coal power plants while committing to embrace greener energy technologies such as solar.

Bill Leak, who admits that he has become rabid right-winger over the years, says the shift has nothing to do with an accident that broke his head in 2008 and made him go through a brain surgery.

The Guardian described the cartoon as “unequivocally racist” and said it would not have been published in UK, the US or Canada.

Even straight women fall for lesbian porn, says University of Essex study

There seems to be some truth to the popular notion that even women, who identify themselves as heterosexuals, have bisexual inclinations. Researcher Gerulf Rieger from the University of Essex, England, has published a study in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology covering 345 women, making the claim. He had earlier established that there was a 100% link between pupil dilation and sexual arousal. That is, when you watch porn, as to be expected, your pupils dilate.

There seems to be some truth to the popular notion that even women, who identify themselves as heterosexual, have bisexual inclinations.

The new study used eye-tracking devices to find that videos of naked men and women equally caused straight women's pupils to dilate, signalling sexual arousal.

"Even though the majority of women identify as straight, our research clearly demonstrates that when it comes to what turns them on, they are either bisexual or gay, but never straight," said Rieger.

In contrast, women who identified themselves as lesbians had no response for naked males.

The findings are in line with several other studies, which claim women are inherently bisexual.

In 2011, a study from Boise State University stated that 60 percent of heterosexual women admitted to being attracted to other women, while 45 percent had kissed another woman.

Sangita Singh quits Wipro - here's what made her so special

December 15, 2015, NewsCrunch

Sangita Singh, the head of Wipro's healthcare and life sciences division, has quit the company.

She was one of the best known employees of Wipro, having been recognised as a Young Global Leader of 2010 by the World Economic Forum.

The most inspiring story about Sangita Singh is how she got the biggest break of her life. It did not come to her, she had to make a go for it.

When Vivek Paul was the CEO of Wipro, she was a product sales executive in Portland, USA.

Wipro was looking for a Chief Marketing Officer, a job Sangita Singh wanted badly.

She landed in Vivek Paul's office in California without knowing him or even where he sat, but managed to speak to him.

Vivek Paul, who was known for his impatience and quick temper, told her that he did not have time to speak to her and also did not know anything about her. But she persisted and got an appointment with him to make a presentation.

Sangita Singh did that a few days later and impressed him with her vision, bluntness and honesty. He liked that there was no empty rhetoric in the slides.

The job was hers, where she stayed for nearly five years, before moving on to head Wipro's enterprise IT business.

Not just Sangita Singh, even Vivek Paul counts the incident as one of the most memorable of his career.

Ever wondered how Jesus Christ actually looked?  He was definitely not a Caucasian, who came with white skin, blue eyes and flowing blonde hair.

A former professor at Manchester University, Richard Neave, has provided the closest representation of how Jesus Christ may have looked using forensic techniques.

He worked with three skulls found at Israeli archaeological sites and used computerized tomography to evaluate their thickness and possible skin and muscles patterns on the face.

He also drew inputs from other sources –ancient drawings to determine the colour of Christ’s hair and Bible passages that mention their length.

The image, he developed, depicts a “Black Jesus” with short hair, muscular build, broad nose and tan skin.

While we may never get to know how Jesus actually looked, Richard Neave’s depiction is probably closer to truth than the White Jesus we are used to.

Richard Neave created the “Black Jesus” portrait for a BBC series more than a decade ago. For some reason social media took fancy and started trending it again.
