Sexaholic, the new short film on sex addiction, has gone viral. Directed by Shailendra Singh and released on February 26, it has clocked  over 1.5 million views on YouTube. Yes, sex sells.

A rich house wife, played by Shama Sikander, confesses to her husband that she has slept with 20 men in 7 months. They go for medical help, which does not work and she worsens, descends into madness and ends up in a mental hospital.

First things first – Sexaholic is ‘bold’ and titillating, shows Shama handling a dildo, making love to several men and having brain-blowing orgasms. Online movies, as RGV pointed out recently, are beyond the grasp of Indian Censor Board led by Pankaj  Nihalani.

Second, Shama is brilliant. The girl-next-door of Yeh Meri Life Hai transforms into a ravishing man eater. In a film marked by mediocre acting by all others, she stands out. The bored housewife, the sex addict and the mental wreck – she gets into different roles with élan. She is the only convincing part of the movie.

Where Sexaholic fails big time is in its depiction of sex addiction. It ends up showing nymphomaniacs as werewolf-like creatures waiting for someone to come and lock them up.

This depiction of sex addiction in such harsh terms is definitely not reflective of the mainstream condition and may be medically invalid as well. The Mayo Clinic websitehas a page on treating sex addiction. The treatment varies from prescription drugs to counselling.

Solitary confinement, where Shama ends in Sexaholic, is not one of them.

Those opposed to Modi marketing intolerance, says Anupam Kher
(Speech video below)
March 6, 2016, NewsCrunch

Anupam Kher took mike and enthralled the audience at the Kolkata club during the Telegraph national debate on Saturday.

The newly Padma Bhushan-awarded Bollywood star was on the panel, along with actress Kajol and socialite  Suhel Seth, to speak against the cry of intolerance. They were opposed by Justice Asok Ganguly, Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala and Barkha Dutt, journalist.

Anupam Kher said he would speak in Hindi as his thoughts came in that language, but ended up using English extensively.

The upshot of his speech was that intolerance was being marketed by those, who were not able to stomach a chaiwala becoming PM.

They can't tolerate that Modi has been working without taking a single day off in last two years or that he has been spending his Diwali with soldiers in Kashmir.

They can't talk about corruption, so they have raked up intolerance.

Speak to the common man on  the streets, nobody knows what intolerance is. The intellectuals, the rich, the famous, those who sit in  five-star hotels sipping champagne, are the ones talking about intolerance.

Those opposing them and supporting Modis are branded as chamchas.

Anupam Kher admitted there were some people in BJP - the sadhvis and yogis - who spoke nonsense. Jail them, but don't tar the nation as intolerant.

In other noteworthy parts of his speech he made personal attacks on Justice Ganguly and Rahul Gandhi.

Speaking before Anupam Kher, Justice Ganguly had criticised Supreme Court's judgement on Afzal Guru. Anupam Kher was was astounded that a retired judge was critcising a judgment of the Supreme Court. He called it a disgrace.

He also slammed Justice Ganguly for supporting the cry of intolerance. Anupam Kher reminded him that he had also faced media intolerance in the past, a reference to the sexual harassment charge Justice Ganguly had to tackle after retiring from the Supreme Court.

The other personal attack focused on Rahul Gandhi. He chided The Telegraph for calling Smriti Irani, Aunty National, and a forty-six year old Rahul Gandhi, a youth icon. Speaking elsewhere, earlier in the day, Smriti Irani had also taunted Rahul Gandhi as a youth leader, who was close to 50.

Anupam Kher, turning sarcastic, called Congress a tolerant party - for tolerating a PM-candidate like Rahul Gandhi. He assured that the day Rahul Gandhi becomes a tenth of Modi, he would vote for him.

The most memorable moment of Anupam Kher's otherwise insipid speech came when choked on a word and said Om namah shivaya thrice to clear his windpipe.

As his questions drew an applause , so did Aamir's resonse from an indulgent audience.

He was misquoted on intolerance - never said he would leave India, will die here (applause)

Amid the build up to the Asia Cup final on Sunday against Bangladesh, cricketer Suresh Raina faced heavy trolling for his Facebook post supporting JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar.

After watching Kanhaiya interview on NDTV on Friday, Suresh Raina posted that he was saluting Kanhaiya Kumar, who was a true fighter and spoke every word honestly.

That provoked 'nationalists' and the trolling, which began almost immediately, accelerated on Sunday.

Some tweets expressed disappointment that Suresh Raina had let down his fans by supporting an anti-national. And some tweeted abuses calling him freak, traitor, anti-national and worse. Suresh Raina also seem to be blocking some of the fanatic tweets targeting him.

'Nationalists' also accused that Suresh Raina had deleted his pro-Kanhaiya tweet after posting it. This may be wrong as Suresh Raina posted his message on Facebook and it still stays there.

After Shahrukh Khan, Aamir Khan  and few other celebs, Suresh Raina has become the latest celebrity to experience the 'nationalist' anger.

The ABP video shows an injured Sandili but has an interview with Abhishek, who was not at the accident scene, but spoke on behalf of his sister.

March 7, 2016, NewsCrunch

Smriti Irani left the accident scene at the Yamuna expressway on Saturday instead of helping, alleges 12 year old accident victim Sandili Nagar.

Sandili’s father Ramesh Nagar, who was riding his motorcycle with his daughter and a eight-year-old nephew Pankaj, was killed in the chain of collisions on the expressway.

The pilot vehicle in Irani’s cavalcade reportedly rammed into another vehicle, which had met with an accident, setting off a chain of collisions. Police are probing to establish the exact sequence of events, which have multiple accounts as of now.

Ramesh’s elder son Abhishek Nagar spoke to ABP News  and alleged that Sandili sought help from Smriti Irani but was rebuffed.

“Our father was lying injured on spot. When Smriti Irani came down from her car, my sister pleaded before her to take our father to hospital but she ignored,” Abhishek, Sandili’s elder brother, was quoted saying.

The ABP video shows an injured Sandili but has an interview with Abhishek, who was not at the accident scene, but spoke on behalf of his sister.

Sandili looks traumatised in the video.

The victims’ account is at variance with Smriti Irani’s tweet stating that she helped them reach hospital.

She had tweeted saying she tried to help the injured who were lying on the road for quite some time and ensured they reach a hospital." Eyewitnesses also report having  seen Smriti Irani making calls from accident spot.

A Times of India report says that Abhishek has even noted in the FIR that Irani ignored the victims and moved away. "It was later that police took the children to hospital," it reportedly states.

Ramesh's nephew, eight-year-old Pankaj, allegedly failed to get first aid at Mathuradistrict hospital. He was in pain for seven hours till he was shifted to Agra's SN medical college, where he was treated for fracture.

The charges are similar to those levelled against BJP MP Hema Malini, who wasalso accused of leaving an accident scene without helping victims.

Update – 2.40 pm, March 7, 2016
ANI reports a denial from HRD Ministry saying the Minister's cavalcade had nothing to do with the biker, who was reportedly hit by a private vehicle.

Quoting an HRD spokesperson it also adds that the HRD Minister directed SSP, Mathura, to arrange ambulance immediately to get medical treatment to the injured at the earliest.

Shama Sikandar initially was hesitant to play the role of a nymphomaniac when Shailendra Singh approached for the lead role in Sexaholic.

But once agreed, she went all out to prepare for the role of a sex addict, who loses her mind.

Shama, who was known for her homely, character in Yeh Meri Life Hai, delivered a stunning performance as a nymphomaniac.

She told Bollywood Life that she researched on nymphomania and even watched porn to prepare for the role.

Her character in Sexaholic has sex with 20 men in 7 months. So, she had to share intimate scenes with several of them, one of which involved some kissing as well.

Shama was not comfortable kissing strangers and she knew that none of her male actor friends in TV would agree to play the role.

So she called over her American boyfriend Jame Milliron to the sets and told him about the kissing sequence. Though not an actor, he was very cool about it and did it like a pro, she says.

‘’I have dated a few foreigners and they don’t make an issue of PDA,’’ Shama says.

When model turned TV celebrity Padma Lakshmi became pregnant in 2009, she was embarrassed.

She did not know who the father was.

The anecdote is just one of the slices of her life, Padma has shared wit brutal honesty in her forthcoming book 'Love, Loss and What We Ate'.

After the marriage with writer Salman Rushdi collapsed, she was not willing to commit and dated two men simultaneously - billionaire Teddy Forstmann and  Adam Dell, brother of tech entrepreneur Michael.

Padma tells People magazine that she was open about her relationships and both the men knew about the existence of the other.  But pregnancy was a ticklish issue.

She persuaded Forstmann to take a paternity test and that showed that he was not the father.

But Forstmann stood by her and was there in the hospital room when her daughter Krishna was born.

"He was resolute in making sure I wasn't alone," she says. "This wasn't his child and he held my hand – and he held it very publicly," she tells People.

She also talks about the initial blissfully married days with writer Salman Rusdhie turning tense. He was insensitive enough to seek sex when she was suffering from severe endometriosis.

He also needed an annual consolation after the Nobel prize was announced each year, she notes.

Fish kills in Bangalorelakes are a common phenomena as sewage water usually finds its way into them. Officials say they treat the sewage before it mixes up with the lake water.

Faulty treatment and sudden increase in the inflow periodically lead to dead fish floating up in massive numbers and raising a stink.

Before Ulsoor, Bangalore’s Bellandur lake had drawn attention when the toxic chemicals that had flown into it had caught fire.

Two riders on this viral video:

It is old, dates back to late 2014. Imran Khan is seen praising Modi's effort to bring back black money to India. He says Modi has identified 627 individuals, with black money abroad.

Modi would not have done this, if he himself had stashed away back money, says Imran Khan.

He further says Pak leaders such as Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari are not keen on tackling black money menace as they themselves may appear in the list of hoarders.

Much has happened in India since Imran Khan praised Modi on black money.

Barkha Dutt spoke about the intolerance - Dadri lynching and Kanhaiya Kumar’s arrest though there was not an iota of proof against him.

Saying national vs anti-national narrative was dumbing us down, she pointed out that not everyone, who opposed the nationalists was a communist. Barkha Dutt described herself as a free marketer.

Quoting Karl Popper Barkha Dutt said tolerance had limits and said it should not be extended to intolerant people.
