Anant, the younger son of India's richest man Mukesh Ambani, has reportedly lost weight by a whopping 70 kgs.

The young man, who was known for being overweight, was spotted looking ultra slim on Saturday.

The Times of India said a much thinner Anant had been spotted  at the Somnath temple and published an old/new photo of him to show his weighty transformation. .

The report said Anant had spent a considerable time training under a fitness instructor from the US to lose weight. He had also done several marathon runs at the Reliance refinery in Jamnagar, it pointed out.

Anant Ambani, was cruelly trolled three years ago after an IPL match in which he was seen supporting Mumbai Indians, a team owned by his father.

It was then pointed out  - from media and other sources which have not been verified - that the teenager suffered from hypothyroidism. It is a condition in which the thyroid gland stops producing enough hormones to burn up food efficiently.

Anant is the younger sibling of twins Akash and Isha. Perhaps due to his reported health condition, the Ambani family has been very protective of him and the man remains a bit of mystery.

Not much is known about him except that he was studying at a 'reputed education institution.'

The young man is said to be very spiritual, a cricket lover and is often seen in the company of his parents.

Real story of Abdul Latif, the dreaded Gujarat gangster who inspired Shahrukh Khan's Raees Khan

Abdul Latif's first claim to big time was when he got entangled with the turf war
in Mumbai underworld.

March 21, 2016, NewsCrunch

In his forthcoming movie Raees, Shahrukh Khan plays a bootlegger, who is reportedly based on a real life goon of Gujarat, Abdul Latif.

Former Delhi police commissioner Neeraj Kumar notes the connection between SRK’s Raees Khan and Abdul Latif in his book Dial D for Don (Penguin, 2015). He also gives a brief sketch of Abdul Latif ’s notoriety and how he was caught by the police.

Born in a poor Muslim family in Ahmedabed, Abdul Latif took to bootlegging and became hugely successful. He was able to build a huge criminal network across states.

He was tough, ruthless and had a penchant for violence, calculated to intimidate rivals and even the police.

Abdul Latif's first claim to big time was when he got entangled with the turf war in Mumbai underworld. He gave refuge to a few members of the Pathan gang, who had a running feud with Dawood  Ibrahim.

Dawood  started gunning for the hot headed Abdul Latif, who returned the favour by making an attempt on his life, when he was briefly imprisoned in Ahmedabad.

But Dawood made peace with Abdul Latif in Dubai and both became good friends. Under Dawood's guidance, Abdul Latif diversified into gold smuggling.

The incident which made him a household name in Gujarat occurred in 1982. Abdul Latif had sent a few sharpshooters to bump off a rival bootlegger Hansraj Trivedi at his gambling den near Radhika Gymkhana in Ahmedabad. The shooters found Trivedi  playing cards with eight friends, but failed to identify him.

Abdul Latif ordered them to shoot all nine and they did. The mind-numbing massacre, which saw AK-47 being used for the first time in Gujarat, made Abdul Latif a marked man.

He fled to Karachi and took refuge there with Dawood's help. Indian intelligence had noted him exchanging congratulatory messages with Dawood after Mumbai blasts.

Perhaps bored with life in Karchi, Abdul Latif returned to India and was caught in Delhi by a combined operation of CBI, Delhi and Gujarat police units, while trying to extort from a businessman.

In 1997, Abdul Latif was shot dead by Gujarat police when he allegedly tried to escape during a visit to the court.

A few students, who were listening to Tharoor, added one more name to the list:  Bhagat Singh.

Tharoor agreed with them and continued with his speech quipping that Bhagat Singh was the Kanhaiya Kumar of his time.

Remember the video of a drunk Delhipolice cop tottering in metro that surfaced last August?

It went viral, was on page one of many dailies and was widely slammed as a disgrace in uniform.

The then police commissioner Bassi suspended the cop, identified as Salim P K from Kerala, and ordered an enquiry.

Mail Today reports that Salim was not drunk, but was suffering from a health condition related to a stroke he had suffered previously.

He had reportedly suffered a major stroke three years ago requiring the police to shift him to a desk job from active security duty. He had been repeatedly hospitalised,  suffered occasional seizures and was on medication.

On the evening of August 19, 2015, Salim suffered a blackout and felt dizzy and that was when a video was taken and uploaded.

After inquiry, Delhipolice reportedly reinstated him in the force on November 5, 2015 with an apology.

The controversy took a toll on his wife’s health as well, who suffered a heart attack following it.

Salim is upset that when he was vilified so extensively after the video went viral, media ignored him after he was reinstated.

He has approached a host of authorities including Supreme Court, the Delhigovernment, Delhi Police, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and the Press Council of India seeking justice.

He has sought compensation, an demanded that the video be removed and the centre to take steps to ensure such incidents do not occur in future.

The Uttar Pradesh IAS officers kept up with the cherished tradition of letting the CM’s team in the annual cricket match (video below)

March 21, 2016, NewsCrunch

Akhilesh Kumar Yadav’s team won a nail biting cricket match against IAS officers in Lucknow on Sunday.

Put to bat first his team scored 127 runs in 20 overs. Playing second, the bureaucrats fell short of the target by 1 and got out for only 126.

NDTVreports that the match was fixed to keep the CM in good humour.

Spectators were quoted saying the officers were chucking slow balls to the CM to let him hit 6s and 4s, which he did obligingly, and scored 65 runs, with 11 fours and a six, before being bowled.

The officer, who bowled the Akhilesh Yadav, was visibly appalled at what he had done. He was seen holding his head in dismay, notes NDTV.

There was more proof that the match was fixed.

In the last two overs, the IAS officers needed only three runs to level and four to win. But they managed to score only two runs.

Randeep went on a zero calorie diet without realising the consequences.

March 23, 2016, NewsCrunch

After losing 18 kgs in 28 days for the Sarabjit biopic, Randeep Hooda started looking so emaciated, his photo went viral.

He has now revealed how he went about losing weight so drastically and so quickly.

Randeep had planned to lose weight gradually over 3 or 4 months. But director Omung Kumar  told him last Diwali that he had only 28 days to lose his weight as he wanted to shoot the jail scenes first.

It was not a small challenge for Randeep, who had a gym-toned muscular body and weighed 94 kg.

His sister Dr Anjali Hooda-Sangwan, a nutrition specialist, put him on a low calorie diet that gave him 500-600 calories a day.

Realising that he would never lose weight in the way the film required, on what she had prescribed, Randeep went on a zero calorie diet without realising the consequences.

He told Mumbai Mirror that the lack of sugar drove him crazy. He was thinking about food all the time and there were days when he was so hungry, he couldn't sleep. He was so emaciated he could barely walk.

And he says he might not have pulled it off, had his sister not monitored his health so closely.
