The embattled satsang leader Radhe maa surfaced fully on Sunday only to hit the viral button again.

Dismissing the obscenity change against her she told a Times Now reporter that she was “pure and pice,” perhaps meaning “pure and pious.”

A video which shows her saying “pure and pice” has been seen over 80,000 times in less than 24 hours, a huge hit rate for a news video.

A Mumbai lawyer has threatened to file an obscenity complaint against Radhe maa alleging she was encouraging obscenity in the guise of religion. Another woman has included Radhe maa in a dowry complaint filed against her in-laws and husband.

Speaking in thick Punjabi accent and wearing large sun glasses, Radhe maa said there were no complaints against her. She also said her physical proximity with her devotees were like a mother tending to her children.

I am “pure and pais,” she asserted.

On August 1, an art show Projecting Change dominated the skylines of New York City by beaming the pictures of endangered animals and Goddess Kali on the Empire State Building.

Projecting Change designed by filmmaker Louie Psihoyos projected pictures of endangered creatures, Cecil the lion, and other nameless endangered animals. The idea behind the show was to highlight the massive wildlife extinction.

The show ended by beaming portraits of the Goddess Kali accompanied by Sanskrit chants on the EmpireStatesBuilding.

Artist Andrew Jones, who created the Kali artwork, said Kali, the Goddess of death, was brought in at the end as a warning that destruction was imminent if the warnings on ecological damage went unheeded.

The Projecting Change team used 40 stacked, 20,000-lumen projectors to beam images on a space that spanned 375 ft tall by 186 ft wide. The projections covered 33 floors of the southern face of the EmpireStateBuilding.

Staff correspondent , August 10, 2015, NewsCrunch

AAP MLA Alka Lamba, who was facing an embarrassing CCTV moment, was given some political ammunition by BJP leader OP Sharma, who abused her before the camera as a drug addict.

Alka Lamba had gone on the defensive after a CCTV footage showed her, along with an associate, vandalising a sweet shop in Delhi.

She had claimed that the incident occurred after she was pelted with stones, suggesting that she had responded in anger.

While there were not many takers for her version, OP Sharma’s controversial statements may help her bounce back in the acrimonious tussle between BJP and AAP for political gain.

Speaking to journalists OP Sharma said People had spotted Alka Lamba between 1 AM to 4 AM on the streets and that showed that she was an addict herself.

When a reporter asked if he had any evidence to substantiate his allegation, he refused to provide any.

“If you portray Phoolan Devi as a symbol of women power then it won't work. She is a drug addict, who turns violent under the effect of drugs,” he said.

On Sunday morning, Alka Lamba was attacked during an anti-drugs campaign in the Kashmere Gate area where she sustained head injuries.

She was rushed to ArunaAsafAliHospital, from where she was discharged after treatment.

Namma Bengaluru Foundation (NBF), a Bangalore-based civil society organization working for improving the city, released a giant anaconda in the busy Yeshwantapur market area on Sunday.

The massive reptile with cruel eyes and frightening teeth, with a bloody human hand jutting out of its jaw, seemingly coming out of a large pool of water, actually a huge pothole, was in fact an art that NBF commissioned.

NBF told The News Minute that this was an attempt to embarrass the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to take the city road and drainage conditions seriously and trigger action.

The anaconda was created by Chitrakala Parishad graduate Pushparaj over two days.

It was only two months ago that another Bangalore artist, Nanjundaswamy, had let loose a life-size crocodile weighing 20 kgs in another 12-feet long city pothole, with the same objective.

Nanjundaswamy had previously drawn inspiration from Lord Yama himself, crafting Yama's mouth around an open manhole to showcase the danger it represented to citizens.

It has been reported that Bangalore has more than 2000 potholes in 422 of its main roads.

Politicians as well as BBMP officials have publicly set deadlines guaranteeing people that they'd repair all potholes.

While Home Minister K J George had set aside 45 days for this, BBMP Commissioner had estimated that over five months, by February 2014, all arterial and sub-arterial roads of Bangalore would be free of potholes.

The protests by the artists and civil society organizations indicate that the promises haven't been kept.

While artists like Nanjundaswamy have had some success in catalyzing action from BBMP, other citizens are often left on their own.

Numerous examples exist of people pooling in their own money and labour to repair their pothole-ridden roads in Bangalore.

Staff correspondent, August 10, 2015, NewsCrunch

Google founders Larry Page and Sergei Brin have kicked themselves upstairs to run Alphabet and vacated their Google seats for the Indian-born Sundar Pichai.

The elevation of Sundar Pichai as the new Google CEO has come as a surprise to nobody. He joined Google's product division  in 2004 and grew steadily delivering hit after hit, finally emerging as the head of the division in a decade flat.

The 2015 annual developer conference Google I/O where the company explains its priorities for the coming year was another clue. Sundar Pichai was officially in-charge of the show for the first time and he went on to lay down the agenda.

In a video that was shot by The Verge after the I/O,  Sundar Pichai explains his vision for Google. - the company has great DNA and he would stick to it though under changed circumstances.

Google's core mission - to organise users information - has a new context: mobile. Sundar Pichai says the handset is deluged with information and Google will innovate on new tools to manage it better.

You can expect more focus on products like Google Now to make it a super-smart personal assistant to everyone.

Internet of things - pushing software to makes devices smart - is in his focus as is Google's futuristic projects and digital divide.

Google will continue to invest in effort to cure death, build AI and make robotics happen. The long-term crazy-sounding research would be done with discipline but without worrying about their business viability, as long as they push the technology frontiers.

You may also see more efforts like Android One, affordable Chrome books and Project Loon - Internet through balloons - to bridge digital divide.

Internet is a great equaliser; Google  search works the same if you are you rural boy anywhere or a Stanford professor, he says.

That is the Google DNA, Sundar Pichai would like to stick to.

Born in India, Sundar Pichai did his schooling from Chennai at Jawahar Vidyalaya and VanaVani.

A talented cricket player, he graduated from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (IIT Kharagpur) in Metallurgical Engineering and then went to the US for an M.S. from Stanford University and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Sundar Pichai worked at Applied Materials and McKinsey & Company before joining Google.

An unidentified woman thrashed an eve teaser and dragged him to the Civil Lines police station in New Delhi last week.

A mobile video of the incident that occurred on a DTC bus has gone viral.

The footage shows the woman reacting to the alleged eve teasing incident. She is holding the man by his hair and shouting at him, and trying to deliver a few slaps as well.

She accuses him of teasing her and getting too close physically, when there was enough room in  the bus.

The man is shown pleading for forgiveness, calling her sister and aunty. He says he was trying to get down. He is restrained by another man, who stepped forward to help the woman.

The woman asked the DTC bus driver to stop at the Civil Lines police station where the police came and escorted them inside.

The Delhi police have started Operation Shishtachar to check incidents of eve-teasing in buses. The problem has reportedly become so widespread the AAP government has a plan to place marshalls on all buses.

A Facebook post by a young Delhi woman Radhika P Singh went viral on Monday, quickly gathering 8,000 likes and around 5,000 shares.

Despite this show of tremendous support by the online community, Radhika removed her post on Tuesday.

In the viral post, Radhika P Singh had written about a nasty experience her friend had to endure while they were walking through Delhi's Connaught Place in daytime.

A stranger had grabbed Radhika's friend and tried to kiss her.

The shocked girl had managed to resist and with support from other people, caught her assailant, and informed the police.

Explaining her decision to delete the post, Radhika P Singh told The Hindustan Times that she wanted to "get on with her life"

Acknowledging the support she had received, she said she did not expect any change from the post. Describing herself and her friend as simple people, she said, they wanted to move on and try and forget this incident.

Radhika had also earlier complained that it was a mistake calling the police.

Arriving 40 minutes late, just like in the movies, the police made the young women write their complaint thrice and rejected it every time.

Finally, the concerned sub inspector simply told the highly disturbed young woman that the stranger trying to kiss her did not amount to molesting her.

A Thai man identified as Peerasak, 30, was recently arrested after a video showing him kicking his son went viral and created a global revulsion.

The Hat Yai Police Station in Songkhla province tracked him down after the local media reported about the video of him beating his son, reports a Bangkok-based website.

The man, nearly naked, repeatedly kicks his 5-year-old son, who is struggling with his math homework.

The police produced Peerasak at a press conference in which he said he was unemployed, stressed and under the influence of drugs.

Peerasak said he lost it after his son could not memorise what he taught.

The video was shot by the boy's mother, who posted it on Facebook to seek help. She said she did not have the courage to either stop her husband or go to the police herself.

Peerasak has been booked on drugs possession and child abuse charges.

The video is graphic, but NewsCrunch shares it to convey its revulsion against child abuse and emphasise that this is a crime which should not go unpunished.

Parliament, which is in a political turmoil, witnessed  a light moment on Monday when a delegation of Bhutanese MPs came visiting.

Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari welcomed the Bhutanese delegation with warm words. As the Bhutanese MPs stood from their seats in the special gallery and bowed, Indian MPs thumped their desks to welcome them.

The opposition MPs, led by the Congress, has refused to let the Parliament function in the ongoing Monsoon session. MPs have brought in placards, rushed to the well shouting slogans, making it impossible to conduct any proceedings.

For a change both the ruling and opposition MPs joined hands in welcoming the Bhutanese.

Hamid Ansari continued with his speech and said the Bhutanese MPs had come to “learn” about the Indian Parliamentary system.

The entire House, which has hardly functioned this session, erupted in spontaneous laughter. The Bhutanese MPs seemed to get the joke broke into smiles perhaps in the hope of picking up a few tricks in disrupting the House.

After the laughter it was back to business. Posters cam out, slogans were shouted and MPs stormed the well as Hamid Ansari adjourned the House one more time.

A group of Bihari techies based within India and abroad, have joined hands with the BJP to make its election campaign in the state high tech, a notch above what it did during the 2014 general elections.

While they prefer to be anonymous, one of them told the Economic Times that they wanted to break the stereotypical image of the Biharis.

"We are all working to get Bihari pride back," he said.

This tech group has worked over the last year to a devise a system to track BJP's election campaign.

As required by the BJP President Amit Shah, the tracking system had to factor in 3 lakh karyakartas and 243 GPS-fitted raths spread across 62,779 booths in 243 assembly constituencies.

The campaign control room has multiple large screens and an Android app which help the core team to keep a watchful eye on all aspects of the campaign.

The high tech gadgets in the raths as well as the relevant app-loaded Moto G smartphones provided to the field functionaries enable the core team to get real time information on a wide range of issues, from photos of crowd taken at predetermined angles to arrangements made for the meetings.

Technology had a major role in how PM Modi, during the 2014 elections, took lead over his rivals, by reaching out to the voters through social media as well as other traditional modes of advertising and campaigning.

Prashant Kishor, the man who drove this part of the campaign, however has broken off with the BJP and is at present with Nitish Kumar, to power the JD(U)campaign.

NewsCrunch had previously reported on how, following the elections, Prashant Kishor was sidelined by Modi and Amit Shah leading to his exit from the BJP.

A four-year old Labrador named Mansi and her handler, Bashir Ahmad War, lost their lives last Saturday night while foiling the bid of militants to cross over the Line of Control in Kupwara's Tanghdhar sector.

The Telegraph reports that both Mansi and Bashir Ahmad War belonged to the tracker dog unit of the 160 Territorial Army battalion in Kashmir.

The Commanding Officer of the unit, Colonel Chanderbhan Singh, said Mansi and Bashir Ahmad losing their lives in the same operation showed how much they cared for one another.

Bashir Ahmad's family recalled that they both were so close that Bashir treated Mansi as his own child.

In the light of Mansi's supreme sacrifice, it is yet again time and an opportunity to seriously consider issues concerning the well being of the army dogs during and after their service.

A senior army officer, while discussing Mansi and Bashir, told DNA"when a dog is injured on the battlefield, the army jumps into action in much the same way as it would do in case of an injured soldier."

But  the question remains about what happens to these wonderful animals after their expiry date, when they become old and feeble.

It has been less than two months since the Times of India reported  the recommendation from the Animal Welfare Board of India, headed by no less than a retired Major General with experience in managing canine units.

It urged the Ministry of Defense to come out with a policy that focused on the rehabilitation of the army dogs after their retirement, rather than the present practice of euthanising them.

With the elevation of Sundar Pichai at Google, the spotlight is again on the rising stock of Indian managers in the US.

Google, Microsoft, Pepsi, Adobe, Mastercard, among several other heavy-hitting companies have Indians at top. What's the secret sauce?

A Wall Street Journal blog quotes a study, which says Indians blend genuine personal humility and intense professional will, and achieve extraordinary results without much hoopla.

Indians do not confront and polarise. They build consensus besides bringing to the table brilliance and hard-work  you may expect from any CEO material.

This habit is contrarian to the in-your-face and quick-to-assert American business culture and gives them a competitive advantage. It gives them the leeway to build a vision and pursue it, rather than living from turmoil to turmoil.

Satya Nadella transformed Microsoft into a friendly force and opted to work through collaboration than competition, and he is seen as a success.

At Google, Sundar Pichai, even when he was aggrieved never went to war and preferred to wait.

Staff correspondent, August 12, 2015, NewsCrunch

Deccan Chronicle, Hyderabad's finest paper, suffered a face palm moment on Wednesday, when it published a hoax bungee jumping video as real.

The video shows a man taking a leap without bungee chords; he is wearing a magnet suit and is bounced  up by huge magnets placed on the ground carrying opposite charge.

Deccan Chronicle introduced the video as a science experiment, in which a daredevil had agreed to do the crazy feat, knowing fully that things could go...very wrong.

The video was a hoax, just an advertisement by IKEA to promote its wireless charger. The video concludes suggesting the world may see wireless bungee jumping one day, but has a wireless charger today.

We wish Deccan Chronicle had waited till the completed before going ga ga over it.

As we had noted a few days ago a TV channel had beamed another hoax video of a man getting sucked in by jet turbines as real.

He has successfully undergone the initial round of surgeries at GangaHospitalin Coimbatore, where Dr S Raja Sabapathy has given him a hope of a normal life.

The son of a wage labourer from a village, Chass, near Bokaro, Mohammad Kaleem hit international  headlines last year for his rare gigantic hands, due to a condition called proteus.

Almost a third of his body weight of 21 kgs came from the arms.

A few foreigners, who chanced upon him, took his photos and posted them online. That led to a UK-based production house Barcroft media to make a short video on him last year, which went viral.

Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge spoke for an hour on Wednesday delivering a dull speech during the Lok Sabha debate on Lalitgate.

Then Sushma Swaraj responded in full fury - intense and emotional. Holding nothing back, she went after Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi getting personal and playing to the gallery to the hilt.

She asked Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi to take a long vacation and reflect on his own family’s history first.

“You love going on vacations. On your next vacation, read the history of your family and come back and ask 'Mamma, how much money did we get in the Quattrocchi incident?’”

Rahul Gandhi had alleged that Sushma Swaraj had taken money to help Lalit Modi.

Responding to that charge Sushma Swaraj asked him to ask his "mamma" on "how much money had been taken from Quattrocchi" and "why did 'daddy' (Rajiv Gandhi) release the killer (Anderson) of 15,000 people (in Bhopal gas leak)".

"That is called quid pro quo... Rahul should ask his mother, why they did the quid pro quo" with regard to Quattrocchi and Anderson.

As Sonia Gandhi watched grimly, slogan-shouting Congress members tried to drown Sushma Swaraj speech with their noise. But like Sachin Tendulkar in his prime, she was unstoppable today.
