A fan's delight at seeing PM Modi convoy in proximity in Mysore gave his security personnel a huge scare.
Modi is in Mysore to inaugurate 102nd Indian Science Congress conference and was driving to his hotel on Saturday night after attending a function.
At about 7.45 pm, a youth came in front of the convoy shouting Modi's name. He was carrying a bag that made the SPG all the more suspicious.
SPG commandos rushed to man and detained him, and allowed the convoy, which had briefly paused, to continue.
Mysore police, who are interrogating the youth, said he was an engineering student and a fan of Modi. He just wanted to get a close view of his leader.
He was not carrying any weapon, they said.
