The body of NSG commando Lt Col E K Niranjan, who was killed during the anti-terror operations at the Pathankot on Sunday, arrived in Bangalore on Monday.
People gathered at his residence in Subbanna Layout, Vidyaranyapura, to pay homage to the fallen hero.
The 35-year-old Lt Col is survived by wife, Dr Radhika, and 18-month-old daughter Vismaya.
There were teary eyes when his wife and other family members stepped out to receive him.
Niranjan’s father Sivarajan, who is from palakkad, is a retired BEL employee. Niranjan studied in Bangalore through out and joined National Defence Academy, Pune, after graduating from BE (Mechanical) from Sir MV Institute of Technology.
Niranjan is the second NSG commando from Bangalore to be martyred during anti-terror operations. Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, also from Ketrala, died fighting terrorists in Mumbai in November 2008.
