Captain Sreekumar was flying at 33,000 feet over Baghdad when he saw two planes flying overhead at different altitudes – a B747 at 35,000 feet and a B737 at 37,000 feet.

A video, filmed by him from a B777 cockpit, shows the larger B747 overtaking B737 with ease but in a mesmerising visual.

Boeing 747 can fly at 613 mph, while a Boeing 737-800 can reach a top speed of only 543 mph.

Though the video was filmed in 2011, it was re-discovered by the media recently. They went gaga over “three huge passenger planes staging a high-speed drag race,” and sent it viral.

Experts were quoted saying the situation was normal for planes flying at different altitudes and what is shown in the video was perfectly safe for passengers.

The video was uploaded by Captain Sreekumar’s friend Praveen Sagar.
