A new Coldplay video shot in India featuring Beyonce and local star Sonam Kapoor was slammed by most Indians as clichéd on Saturday.
"Hymn for the Weekend" is the latest single from Coldplay’s seventh album 'A Head Full of Dreams'. It was lead singer Chris Martin’s idea to shoot the video inIndia to match country’s vibrant hues with the mystical undertones of the song.
The video, shot in different parts ofIndia , including Mumbai, offers a heavy-dose of religion and enchantment.

But the video did not go down well with the Indian fans who found it too stereotypical and exotic for their taste.
NDTV journalist Sreenivasan Jain called it clichéd. IBN Live counted 19 “exotic clichés” in the video which reinforce the way the West likes to look at
Even Beyonce’s appearance with henna on hands and in an ethnic outfit and jewellery was dismissed as jaded. Another gripe was on the cameo by Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor, who has just a fleeting presence in the video.
