After 13 years in the industry and despite being counted among A-listers, Katrina Kaif, was paid a paltry Rs 4 crore for Fitoor.
To put this in perspective Deepika Padukone charges Rs 15 crore a movie after the smashing success of Bajirao Mastani.
A report in Bollywood Life states that both Katrina and Aditya were paid Rs 4 crore for Fitoor.
Katrina is a star in her own right while Aditya Roy Kapur is a one-hit wonder newbie.
But before jump to the conclusion that Katrina is a poor woman by Bollywood standards, read on.
Like many other stars, Katrina makes her money from endorsements. Last year, she endorsed 20 top brands, the most for any Bollywood star.
Top brands like Lux, Berger Paints, Slice, Panasonic, Veet, Sony Xperia, Titan Raga, Choc On, L’Oreal, LG, Olay, Nakshatra Diamond Jewellery and Pantene are in her kitty.
How much does she charge when she endorses? Rs 5 to 6 crores per day, the same as Khans.
So, why is she working in Fitoor for just Rs 4 crore? Not because the filmmakers were pinching pennies - as a recent gossip had it, they spent Rs 55 lakh on Katrina's hair for the film.
Katrina herself may have discounted her fee to bag a meaty role.
She knows that she is not taken seriously in the industry due to her poor acting skills. Despite acting in mega projects, there has not been one movie, which she carried on her shoulders.
May be she feels that Fitoor is her chance to prove herself. When the offer came, she jumped at it for Rs 4 crore.
