The Vibgyor school campus at Whitefield, on the outskirts of Bangalore, had an unwelcome visitor on Sunday - a young leopard.
The desperate animal, which panicked after finding itself in a strange environment, was luckily spotted by an alert security guard at 4 am, who raised an alarm.
Double luckily it was a Sunday, a children-free day at the school.
A chilling CCTV footage shows the leopard roaming in the corridors of the school, which on a weekday would have been filled with children.
Though the forest department and wildlife experts started rescue operation early on Sunday, it took almost 14 hours to tranquilise the animal.
The animal also attacked a wild life expert, Sanjay Gubbi, and two TV cameramen, who got too close.
The attack on Gubbi was dramatically captured on camera.
As the forest department officials started sweeping the school to find the leopard, it darted from one of the rooms and attacked Gubbi near the swimming pool taking him by surprise.
He fought it off valiantly using his binoculars.
It also gave the forest officials time to find a good aim with their tranquilizer. The animal ran towards the rest room and collapsed.
The school is surrounded by shrinking green patches, which perhaps attracted the leopard.
The Whitefield area where the school is located was sparsely populated 30 years ago.
But it became one of the hubs of the IT revolution in Bangalore, which deprived these animals of their habitat.
