Film maker Ram Gopal Varma has released a titillating poster of his first erotic online movie Single X, issuing an open challenge to the censor board.
The poster, which shows the generous derrière of a skimpily clad unidentified actress, created an instant buzz.
The short film is being released under a new banner RGVtalkies, Varma’s new initiative to make online content.
Varma, who is struggling to deliver a hit in any language, said RGVtalkies would focus on erotic crime and horror movies.
He also dedicated the film to the Censor Board daring it to stop him.
If Varma thinks by going online, he can evade the Censor Board, he will find that its chief Pahlaj Nihalani is two steps ahead.
The Cinematograph Act, 1952, is silent on online content. But thanks to prodding from Nihalani the government may amend it to bring online content under its purview.
Nihalani had written to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in December complaining that Kya Kool hai Hum 3 was showing censored scenes in its online promos.
So, if Varma manages to shift to online media successfully, he may find Nihalani waiting for him there.
