Internet visionary Marc Andreessen made a billion enemies on Wednesday when he came out in support of Free Basics with a shocking choice of words.

Andreessen, the inventor of Netscape browser, is the man who took Internet to the masses.

He had earlier said that he was unhappy about India’s rejection of Free Basics programme, which offers free internet access to select websites.

He tweeted controversially on Wednesday saying “Anti-colonialism has been economically catastrophic for the India people for decades. Why stop now?”

As to be expected, Indians hit back ferociously. It was pointed out that Andreessen was a Facebook board member, not a neutral observer. It was also mentioned that Indians had been consuming a mustard oil called P Mark – Andreessen  tweets under the twitter handle @pmarca.

As Indians stampeded into the debate, shredding his arguments, Andreessen  made a hasty retreat announcing that he was retiring hurt by wishing Indians good night.
