The world’s cheapest smart phone Freedom 251 went on sale this morning breaking millions of hearts of those who tried to buy it.

The buggy website made it difficult for them to place their order for the Rs 251 phone and then it reportedly crashed. There were also reports that the website had tried to sell them half a phone, .5 unit at half the prize.

Freedom 251 debuted with a bang taking out full page advertisements and getting Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar to launch it on the Make In India platform.

There was scepticism on how the company could sustain sales at such an impossible price point of Rs 251.
