Smriti Irani left the accident scene at the Yamuna expressway on Saturday instead of helping, alleges 12 year old accident victim Sandili Nagar.

Sandili’s father Ramesh Nagar, who was riding his motorcycle with his daughter and a eight-year-old nephew Pankaj, was killed in the chain of collisions on the expressway.

The pilot vehicle in Irani’s cavalcade reportedly rammed into another vehicle, which had met with an accident, setting off a chain of collisions. Police are probing to establish the exact sequence of events, which have multiple accounts as of now.

Ramesh’s elder son Abhishek Nagar spoke to ABP News  and alleged that Sandili sought help from Smriti Irani but was rebuffed.

“Our father was lying injured on spot. When Smriti Irani came down from her car, my sister pleaded before her to take our father to hospital but she ignored,” Abhishek, Sandili’s elder brother, was quoted saying.

The victims’ account is at variance with Smriti Irani’s tweet stating that she helped them reach hospital.

She had tweeted saying she tried to help the injured who were lying on the road for quite some time and ensured they reach a hospital." Eyewitnesses also report having  seen Smriti Irani making calls from accident spot.

A Times of India report says that Abhishek has even noted in the FIR that Irani ignored the victims and moved away. "It was later that police took the children to hospital," it reportedly states.

Ramesh's nephew, eight-year-old Pankaj, allegedly failed to get first aid at Mathuradistrict hospital. He was in pain for seven hours till he was shifted to Agra's SN medical college, where he was treated for fracture.

The charges are similar to those levelled against BJP MP Hema Malini, who wasalso accused of leaving an accident scene without helping victims.

ANI reports a denial from HRD Ministry saying the Minister's cavalcade had nothing to do with the biker, who was reportedly hit by a private vehicle.

Quoting an HRD spokesperson it also adds that the HRD Minister directed SSP, Mathura, to arrange ambulance immediately to get medical treatment to the injured at the earliest.
