Popular Telugu anchor of Gemini Music, Nirosha, 23, hanged herself during a Skype call with her Canada based boyfriend, who has been identified only by his first name, Ritwik.
The couple, who were to get engaged next month reportedly had a heated argument, during the
55 minute video call.
She reportedly told Ritwik that she was committing suicide following which he made an unsuccessful attempt to stop her.
Mumbai Mirror reports that he called the warden of the hostel in Secunderabad, where Nirosha, was staying, but the phone went unanswered.
In a slightly different version of the incident, Deccan Chronicle reports that Ritwik alerted Nirosha's relatives at Jubilee Hills, who immediately called police. But she had passed away by the time the police reached her hostel.
Police have seized Nirosha's cellphone and are investing the case.
