Remember the video of a drunk Delhipolice cop tottering in metro that surfaced last August?

It went viral, was on page one of many dailies and was widely slammed as a disgrace in uniform.

The then police commissioner Bassi suspended the cop, identified as Salim P K from Kerala, and ordered an enquiry.

Mail Today reports that Salim was not drunk, but was suffering from a health condition related to a stroke he had suffered previously.

He had reportedly suffered a major stroke three years ago requiring the police to shift him to a desk job from active security duty. He had been repeatedly hospitalised,  suffered occasional seizures and was on medication.

On the evening of August 19, 2015, Salim suffered a blackout and felt dizzy and that was when a video was taken and uploaded.

After inquiry, Delhipolice reportedly reinstated him in the force on November 5, 2015 with an apology.

The controversy took a toll on his wife’s health as well, who suffered a heart attack following it.

Salim is upset that when he was vilified so extensively after the video went viral, media ignored him after he was reinstated.

He has approached a host of authorities including Supreme Court, the Delhigovernment, Delhi Police, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and the Press Council of India seeking justice.

He has sought compensation, an demanded that the video be removed and the centre to take steps to ensure such incidents do not occur in future.
