Cricketer Ashish Nehra’s gave a viral-worthy response to a reporter on the India Bangaldesh social media rivalry.
The ace bowler was addressing a press conference in the run up to the Wednesday’s T 20 World Cup match between India and Bangladesh at Bangalore .
While India has maintained its healthy record against the eastern neighbour, Bangladesh fans and media have taken the battle to social media. During the recent Asia Cup, a morphed image of Taskin Ahmed holding Dhoni’shead, went viral. Before that a Bangla newspaper had shown the Indian players with their heads half shaved.
Asked to comment on social media warfare, Ashish Nehra started with a nervous laugh.
He said he would not know as he still uses his old Nokia phone and is not on Facebook or Twitter or Instagram. You are asking the wrong person, said.
It is sign of the times that his comments on social media went viral and drew trolls in hordes.
Ashish Nehra also said he did not read newspapers and nobody noticed it.
BCCI tweeted asking Ashish Nehra’s pal Virender Sehwag to get him on social media. Sehwag said he would do his best.
