Mumbai cop Amol Ghodake took Joe Root’s sixer ball with one hand standing outside boundary at Wankede (watch video)

The man, who caught Joe Root’s sixer with one hand outside the boundary rope at Wankede stadium, Mumbai,  has been identified as Amol Ghodake, a constable with Mumbai Police.   In the T20 match against South Africa, England’s Joe Root hit pacer Kyle Abbott for a six during his match-winning knock of 83.  As the ball cleared the rope, Ghodake caught it only by stretching his right hand out and without even moving his feet.
Ghodake plays for Greater Mumbai Police team and is its fielding coach as well (video below)

The man, who caught Joe Root’s sixer with one hand outside the boundary rope at Wankede stadium, Mumbai,  has been identified as Amol Ghodake, a constable with Mumbai Police.

In the T20 match against South Africa, England’s Joe Root hit pacer Kyle Abbott for a six during his match-winning knock of 83.

As the ball cleared the rope, Ghodake caught it only by stretching his right hand out, without even moving his feet.

Ghodake’s splendid catch earned him praise from the commentators and after the match VVS Laxman went looking for him.

It is no surprise that Ghodake took the catch so effortlessly.

Mid Day reports that Ghodake plays for Greater Mumbai Police team and is its fielding coach as well. He was also reportedly part of the ShivajiUniversitysquad that played in the 2001-02 Vizzy Trophy.

On the day of the match he was manning the sightscreen area when the ball came hurling at him.
