PM Modi paused his election campaign speech at Kharagpur as he azam call blared out of a nearby mosque on Sunday.
He also took the opportunity to have a sip of water.
After waiting for nearly five minutes, he resumed his speech saying he did not want to cause problems to anyone's prayer.
He said TMC and Left had destroyed West Bengal though the state had been showered with the blessings of Goddess Saraswathi.
Muslims, amounting to a quarter of West Bengal population, are crucial to the elections in West Bengal.
