JNU president Kanhaiya Kumar was reportedly attacked on a Mumbai flight to Pune on Sunday morning.
The JNU leader was on his way to address a public gathering at Pune's Balagandharva auditorium on the invite of the Progressive Students Youth Action Committee (PSYAC).
Kanhaiya Kumar tweeted saying a man tried to strangulate him inside a Jet flight. The attacker, identified as Manash Jyoti Deka, reportedly a TCS employee has been detained,
Surprisingly, Jet thought it fit to deplane KK adn is friends as well following the incident.
A statement made by just said a few passengers had been offloaded at the Mumbai airport in the morning flight, without going into the details.
An eye witness account said the accused had a window seat while Kanhaiya Kumar was in the middle. Manash Jyoti Deka was heard saying on his phone that he 'would take care of it' and grabbed Kanhaiya Kumar's throat.
A few media reports said Kanhaiya Kumar was offloaded after he had a scuffle with a fellow passenger, though the student leader maintained that he had been attacked.
