Maharashtra Police have traced the 20 tonnes of ephedrine that was seized from a Solapur factory recently to former Bollywood actress Mamta Kulkarni's husband, Vicky Goswami.
Vicky Goswami, a notorious Kenya-based drug dealer, has been married to Mamta Kulkarni for nearly three decades now.
Police sources told Mumbai Mirror that Mamta Kulkarni may also have emerged as a key player in his drug ring as Vicky Goswami, who is facing an Interpol lookout notice, is holed up in Kenya.
Mamta Kulkarni has been reportedly flying around to meet Vicky Goswami's partners in crime in Dubai, Singapore, South Africa, the US and India.
She is also allegedly involved in laundering his money.
Vicky Goswami had been briefly detained by the Kenyan police two years ago during a drug raid.
A small-time drug supplier to Bollywood parties, Vicky Goswami shifted to Dubai to expand his operations.
But in 1996, Vicky Goswami was caught and put in jail for 25 years. But he got out after serving 16 years in 2012. He converted to Islam and learnt Quran by heart - in Dubai prisoners, inmates who convert to Islam and learn to recite Quran get leniency.
