Namma Metro has thrown open South India's first underground stretch for public (video below) |
Bangalore's Namma Metro crossed a significant milestone on Saturday by completing the East West corridor part of the project.
It connects areas in the vicinity of ITPL, a prominent IT cluster, to the City Railway station and to the older parts of Bangalore up to the Mysore road.
It also boasts of making operational South India's first underground stretch.
The project was notoriously delayed and the Bangalore Metro is still a decade away to string the entire city together with a fast mode of transport.
But people were still out on Saturday enjoying rides and wondering about the miracle of covering a distance of 18 km in 30 flat minutes flat, ignoring traffic chaos overhead.
