The showstopper moment of PM Modi's visit to Varanasi occurred when he took an Ola e-rickshaw during a visit to his Parliamentary constituency on Sunday.
As part of an effort to turn Varanasi green, he distributed 1,000 e-rickshaws at an event at at Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW) ground.
To drive the green message home, he took an e-rickshaw himself for some distance, which carried the nameplate of Ola, which aggregates rickshaws in the city.
Modi also launched solar-powered boats for plying on river Ganga.
Earlier, the PM had launched the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) at Ballia in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
The PMUY scheme provides free LPG connections to about five crore families living below poverty line (BPL) across the country.
