PM Modi tweeted three photos of his mother Hiraben's maiden visit to his official residence at 7, Racecourse road.
In the the photos he is seen showing his mother around, pushing her on a wheel chair, and also giving her a glass of water.
In the accompanying caption, Modi mentioned that it was his mother's first visit to PM's official bungalow and that he had spent quality time with her.
The photos created a social media buzz and became fodder for both his supporters and critics. His supporters said the photos underlined the distance he had maintained with his family, unlike the Nehru-Gandhis.
His opponents said Modi typically had turned his mother's visit into a PR stunt with carefully staged photographs.
In one photo they point out, the photographer catches his own reflection - underlining that the act of Modi giving his mother a glass of water was for the camera.
Nevertheless, Hiraben would have gone back to Gujarat a happy woman. Usually, she gets to see Modi only on his birthdays when he visits her along with a posse of photographers and has her putting a laddu into his mouth.
