Singer Arijit Singh posted and deleted a public apology to Salman Khan begging him not to delete a song, sung by him, in Sultan. He refers to an episode in which Salman Khan felt he was insulted. Arijit Singh says he made repeated attempts to apologise but could never reach out to the star and hence had decided to post a public apology. Though Arijit Singh did not give details of the episode in his Facebook post, he was possibly referring to the encounter with Salman Khan and Ritesh Deshmukh, who hosted the Star Guild Awards function in 2014, the year he won the best male playback singer for the song Aashiqui 2 song tum hi ho.

As the video below shows, after reading out the list of nominees, Salman Khan and Ritesh Deshmukh announce the winner. Arijit Singh takes sometime to reach the stage and is looking haggard, prompting Salman Khan to ask if he was sleeping.

Arijit Singh, known for his quick repartee retorts, ''You guys put me to sleep,'' suggesting though in jest that their on-the-stage antics were a bit boring.

Salman Khan blames the sleepy mood on the song tum hi ho, which was playing in the background, and tries to sing it in off key. Arijit Singh suggests that is not the way it is sung and on request from Salman Khan goes on to tutor him. Salman Khan follows him though in off key, getting a few laughs from the audience.

Now, Salman Khan for all his macho aura is known to have a razor thin skin when it comes to his image. A public retort at a glittering ceremony before all his industry peers, including frenemy Shahrukh Khan, who is shown enjoying the proceedings, could  have upset him.

And as Vivek Oberoi will tell you, once Salman Khan gets upset no amount of cringing and grovelling will wash away your sin.

The Sultan song in question was shot in January featuring Salman Khan and Amit Sadh and had been sung much before that. It is not clear what made Salman Khan change his mind to delete it now.
