The Muslim hero, who saved a Mumbai shopkeeper’s life recently from a sword-wielding goon, has been identified as Nasiruddin Mansuri.
A tailor, who works for a garment factory, Nasiruddin Mansuri, 45, had gone to the mobile shop run by Rajnish Singh Thakur to recharge his mobile. A goon barged in with a sword and aimed a blow at Rajnish. Before he could strike again, Nasiruddin Mansuri grappled with him and stopped him from attacking again.
His bravery, captured on CCTV, was widely acclaimed.
Speaking to Mid Day Nasiruddin Mansuri said he was someone who hated bloodshed and got scared easily.
He still can’t believe that he overpowered a hardened criminal, who came to kill. After the incident, Nasiruddin Mansuri went home worrying what would have happened if the goon had attacked him.
He says he reacted instinctively and got his strength from the Almighty Allah.
“Islam teaches us to help the oppressed and stand up to oppressors. I think I did what should have been done.” Nasiruddin Mansuri told Mid day.
Rajnish Singh Thakur’s family say they will forever be grateful to Nasiruddin Mansuri and plan to felicitate him.
