Upright Karnataka police officer Anupama Shenoy has updated her Facebook page with a message – ‘jobless and unemployed’.
Posted as DySp of Ballary district, Anupama Shenoy had a difficult relationship with local minister Parameshwar Naik. She resigned in a huff recently blaming him for the protests that broke out against her.
Her resignation has reached police headquarters and has been forwarded to the Additional Home Secretary, who will decide after meeting Home Minister G Parameshwara.
Her new status comes as a shock for her family, which survives on modest resources.
Deccan Herald informs that the Shenoys have been running a small tea canteen at Ucchila of Udupi district for the last 40 years.
It quoted Anupama Shenoy’s father, Radhakrishna, saying he took great pains to educate her.
He said he ran a canteen to fund her education. “Had I known that she would be tortured so much, I wouldn’t have had to provide for her higher education,” he added.
Her brother, Achyut, says Anupama Shenoy was “forced” to quit by the elected representatives.
