A woman sarpanch of Moga district beat up a Dalit man and two other women alleging they were engaged in sex trade.
The victims have denied the charge and said they were assaulted over a land dispute.
The video, which has gone viral on social media, shows the Sarpanch beating up the man brutally and also delivering occasional blows to the women, who are sitting next to him.
A group of villagers are seen egging on the Sarpanch, though none of them are seen hitting the victims, in the video.
The sheer brutality of the beatings which continue even as the victims wail, perhaps made the video go viral.
The victims have filed a complaint with the police, who are probing the case.
The incident reportedly occurred on July 27.
