A video allegedly showing women in Mahipalpur fighting over water went viral and drew Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's attention.
Arvind Kejriwal asked his water resources minister Kapil Sharma to visit the area and file a report.
The disturbing video shows a group of women in a desperate fight for water, pulling hair and hitting at each other with buckets. You can see a water tanker at a distance, which seems to have triggered the fracas.
The video was politically damaging for AAP and triggered a quick response from its leadership.
Along with Kapil Sharma, local MLA Devender Sherawat also visited the area. They said it was not the lack of water but the discrepancy in the distribution which had triggered the fight.
Indian Express quoted a local resident saying tankers provided regular water only to a few select houses and there was only one tanker, which came once a week, for rest of the village. .
She said when a tanker came on Tuesday, the residents had gathered around it to collect water. The fight started after a few residents, who get water regularly from other tankers, also came to collect water.
