A music teacher, Niranjan Bhatnagar, was thrashed outside his shanty home in Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh, by a group of girls, said to be his students.
A video that has gone viral shows the girls slapping and beating him ferociously. They are supported by a few men, who block Niranjan Bhatnagar’s escape. One of the men pushes the 63-year-old teacher making him fall with a thud to the ground.
The girls said the teacher had been misbehaving with them, eve-teasing and even texting lewd messages. According to local police the girls have alleged that the teacher would routinely use inappropriate language.
Niranjan Bhatnagar, has however denied the charges, and said a few girls had not been paying the fee regularly and were upset after he had objected. He also said he had cautioned a girl against seeing a boy in the locality as her parents would not approve of it. That also contributed to the assault, he said.
Niranjan Bhatnagar said he was an old man who had been unfairly beaten up.
