On Friday, Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani posted a tweet in support of embattled Mumbai Islamic preacher saying,  “Support Zakir Naik or Time Will Come When Qur'an Recitation Will Be Banned.“

A joint operation of Rashtriya Rifles and Jammu & Kashmir police killed him soon after the tweet in a raid on a hideout at Bumdora in Anantnag. The security forces had been tracking him with accurate intelligence over the last few days.

Hailing from a wealthy family in Tral, Burhan Muzaffar Wani had joined Hizbul Mujahideen when he was just 15 after his brother had been allegedly thrashed by the Army.

Burhan Muzaffar Wani was known to have never fired a single bullet, but he shot into limelight with his propaganda work.

He occasionally released videos ranging from militants-playing-cricket to pointed propaganda to spread the lure of militancy in Kashmir. He had emerged as chief recruiter of Hizbul Mujahideen and become a top target for security forces, which had put a price of Rs 10 lakh on his head.

He also had a highly followed Facebook page, which had been recently shut down by the authorities.

On Friday, Burhan Muzaffar Wani had tweeted from  @Gazi_Burhan2 tagging the Zakir Naik post to Dukhtaran-e-Millat chief Aasiyeh Andrabi, Lashkar-e-Taiba chief Hafiz Sayeed, Hurriyat Conference leader Mirwaiz Farooq, Canadian Wahhabi preacher Bilal Philips, former Fox international fellow at Yale university Inshah Malik, Dukhtaran-e-Millat general secretary Nahida Nasreen Noor, Nidal and Sitara Ahmed, reports the Times of India.
