A group of vigilantes thrashed four men in Gujarat on Monday accusing them of transporting cow skin.
They uploaded a video which shows the four victims tied to the back of a car. The vigilantes take turns to assault them with a thick lathi.
The incident took place at Gir Somnath, 400 km from Ahmedabad, and the victims are said to be tannery workers.
Media reports said they tried to explain that the cow skin was procured legally, but still got thrashed.
A vigilantes was quoted saying that they had received information that a few people were slaughtering cows to eat beef and had acted on that.
After the video went viral, police have reportedly arrested one of the vigilantes, reports NDTV. Two of them are still missing.
