A major character in long-running Tamil TV serial Chandralekha was shot dead in the July 23 episode. But that did not stop her from going through a couple of more scenes adding to the melodrama.
The heart wrenching scene turned into a comedy and has gone viral getting making Chandralekha famous outside Tamil Nadu as well.
The episode shows Mangai and Sidhart played by Divya Padmini and Rajesh in a temple. A sniper takes aim from a nearby building and shoots Mangai in the head.
Thought the bullet leaves a coin-size injury on her forehead, she refuses to die either quickly or silently.
First, she agonises over leaving Sidharth permanently. As a true South Indian woman, then she asks him to get flowers to put to her hair.
As Sidharth asks the car driver to rush to the hospital, Mangai opens her smartphone to lovingly gaze at family photos.
The hilarious scenes activated the trolls, who said while the bullet spared Mangai from brain damage, the episode left the viewers with the condition.
Chandralekha, which has been running on Sun TV, since October 2014, tells the tumultuous story of two women Chandra (Shwetha Bandekar) and Lekha (Nagashree) who were switched at birth.
