A photo of the encounter shows both Rahul Gandhi and the woman breaking into smiles. A few reports identified her as a mother of one of the injured men, while others said she was a relative.
The woman, Ramaben Muchhadiya, is neither, and worse has a criminal record for extortion and rioting, reports NDTV.
It quotes her saying as a Dalit mother, she felt for the men who ad been attacked by the cow vigilantes, and w nt to visit them. Rahul Gandhi visited at the same time, saw tears in her eyes and hugged her, she claims.
The NDTV report even accuses her of using a fake name to get a pass to enter the hospital fraudulently.
