A camera has caught two Indian men, attacking Mahatma Gandhi’s statue at Winnipeg, a city in Manitoba, Canada.
They slap Mahatma’s cheeks and then remove their shoes to start delivering blows on the statue.
A few people pass by giving them a stare, but the two men go on undeterred.
One of the men is a Sikh, while it is not clear where the second person is from.
Gandhi has been a target of conservative Sikhs, who are still rankled by his stand on Sikhism, which he saw as part of Hinduism. He reportedly saw the separate language of the Sikhs and the institution of the Khalsa Panth as obstacles in assimilating Sikhs with Hindu religion.
Last year, a Gandhi statue had been vandalised at Leicester, UK, during a Sikh protest against 1984 Delhi riots.
The Manitoba incident had been first uploaded on Facebook on 15th August, 2015.
