The Patel community members, who are agitating for reservation, blamed Gujarat police for the violence that engulfed the state on Wednesday.

As Gujarat went up in flames police resorted to firing, which resulted in the death of five people. Army has been deployed in the State to clamp down on the violence.

Curfew has been imposed in Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Mehasana, Patan, Palanpur, Unjha, Visnagar and Jamnagar.

Hardik Patel, the agitation leader, blamed the police for the violence. He alleged that the police were trying to "disrupt" the "movement" by indulging in violence.

The agitators also released videos and CCTV footages from Surat and Ahmadabad, which allegedly caught police unlawfully breaking into homes and vandalising vehicles to terrorise people.
