The UP Cabinet on Tuesday decided to award a monthly pension of Rs 50,000 for the recipients of the award, reports The Times of India. While this would add up to a substantial monthly payoff for Bachchans, the Bollywood's first family is likely to decline the offer with alacrity.

The Amitabh Bachchan family has become eligible to secure a monthly pension of Rs 1,50,000  from the Uttar Pradesh government.

Three Bachchans, Amitabh, Jaya and Abhishek, have won Yash Bharti Samman, the state's highest honour for excellence in public life.

The UP Cabinet on Tuesday decided to award a monthly pension of Rs 50,000 for the recipients of the award, reports The Times of India.

Despite the offer, the Bollywood's first family is likely to decline the offer with alacrity. While the money may not even tempt the uber-rich Bachchans, the adverse publicity would surely singe them.

Instituted in 1994 the Yash Bharti awards now come with Rs 11 lakh, a shawl and a citation. Closely associated with the Samajawadi Party, they were discontinued by the BSP government and were revived again in 2013 when Akhilesh Yadav became the chief minister.

This year 56 people received the awards though the number of recipients varies from year to year.
