Why Air India One next to Air Force One looks like an MEA plant

Indian media rushed to cover itself with ridicule after it reported that Modi's Air India One was seen parked next to Obama's Air Force One.

Both the leaders are attending G-2- Summit at Antalya, Turkey.

Twitter was quick to seize the utter insignificance of the event and the extensive coverage that surrounded it.

The culprit in question was Press Trust of India (PTI), which is among the few media outlets that accompany Modi on his foreign trips. After PTI filed the report, it was mindlessly carried by many heavyweights including NDTV and Times of India.

But the report seems more like a Ministry of External Affairs plant than a reporter's initiative.

It also notes the different planes other leaders rode to Antalya -   737 Boeing (Australia's Malcolm Turnbull ), Airbus A319 (Brazil's Dilma Rousseff), Boeing 747 (Japan's Shinzo Abe.)

This is the sort of leisurely information an MEA bureaucrat would be better placed to gather than a humble reporter, who is running behind the PM's entourage.

The bureaucrat, and the perhaps the reporter as well, would have thought of putting a gloss on Modi's image by drawing a comparison with Obama. But it ended up as another PR stunt that went wrong.
