Former President APJ Abdul Kalam was laid to rest at Pei Karumbu burial ground at Rameswaram on Thursday.
He was buried at a 1.5 acre piece of land, which with typical sandy terrain features of Rameshwaram, looked majestic and a fitting resting place for India ’s beloved leader.

A 21-gun salute was accorded and dignitaries led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, along with thousands of people from across the state paid their last respects.
A memorial is likely to come up at Pei Karumbu to keep Dr Kalam's memory alive for the future generations.
