You Aryans have come from outside - Mallikarjun Kharge's (video below) |

Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge's intervention took a dramatic turn on Thursday after he leapt on topics usually not touched upon in Parliament.
Kharge rose to respond to Home Minister Rajnath Singh's speech on the occasion of the 125th birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar.
Rajnath Singh had complained that Indira Gandhi had added the words secular and socialist to the preamble much later, signifying that BJP was not comfortable with that.
Kharge took exception to these remarks and said Dr Ambedkar wanted to add these words to the constitution but could not do so in to the prevailing atmosphere.
The response from BJP benches was noisy and in the din somebody must have said that Dr Ambedkar also wanted to leave the country.
It was this comment, not audible in the video, which got Kharge wild.
Referring to Dr Ambedkar's and his own Dalit origin, Kharge asserted, they were the original inhabitants of the country. "You Aryans, came much later," he pointed out. He said the original inhabitants were there not to quit the country, but to protect it.
In colourful language, he said the original inhabitants had suffered 5,000 years of oppression and warned there would be a bloodbath if anyone tries to change the constitution.
The video clip from Mango news unfortunately cuts out the last segment of Kharge's statement.
