The Telangana BJP has split in its response to the Osmania university beef festival that is proposed to be held on December 10.
Telangana BJP president G Kishan Reddy said on Wednesday that as the beef festival would serve only buffalo meat, BJP would neither support nor oppose it, reports Indian Express.
His stand contradicts the aggressive position taken by Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh, who has vowed to stop the festival at all cost.
Raja Singh has gone on record saying he would kill or get killed to stop the festival and said even Modi would not be able to stop him.
Kishan Reddy said Raja Singh was acting without permission in opposing the fest. The MLA was acting more like an independent candidate and had stopped participating in party activities, he added.

But Raja Singh seems to be more in line with Hindutva sentiments on the issue. He was accompanied by members of the BJP, VHP and Hindu Janjagruti Samiti when he submitted a memorandum to the government opposing the event on Wednesday.
The Osmania beef festival that has been held annually since 2012 has become controversial this year with a rival group of students threatening to hold a pork food festival.
The Telangana government has indicated that it would not give permission for students to hold beef fest this year.
