The incident occurred near Hanogi in Mandi district of Himachal, where 24 students had been washed away in flash flood last year.
A video footage shows small stones and soil coming loose from the side of the mountain facing river
The traffic on the road has come to a halt and local officials have deployed heavy machinery and JCBs to remove the boulders.
No loss of life or property has been reported from the landslide.
