Australia’s most famous cartoonist Bill Leak drew a racist cartoon on Monday showing Indians in bad light.

Bill Leak, who is a cartoonist for The Australian, owned by Rupert Murdoch, was trying to criticise India’s stand in Paris Climate meet.

The cartoon shows thin Indians wearing turbans, who are so starving they are trying to eat solar panels.

India took a tough stand at Paris meet asking rich nations to change their lifestyle. It said it will continue with its coal power plants while committing to embrace greener energy technologies such as solar.

Bill Leak, who admits that he has become rabid right-winger over the years, says the shift has nothing to do with an accident that broke his head in 2008 and made him go through a brain surgery.

The Guardian described the cartoon as “unequivocally racist” and said it would not have been published in UK, the US or Canada.
