A group of AIADMK workers managed to set their own lungis on fire while burning an effigy of DMDK Vijayakanth.
A video shows them beating Vijayakanth's effigy with slippers and setting it on fire. The fire bursts catching some of their lungis by surprise,
They run to safety and manage to douse the fire without getting burnt.
DMDK and AIADMK supporters have been clashing in the Villupuram region over placing posters of Jayalalithaa and Vijayakanth in prominent spots.
Vijayakanth is yet to decide who he will go with in the forthcoming assembly elections - DMK or NDA, which may have a tacit understanding with Jayalalithaa. .
Setting effigies on fire seems to have become a risky enterprise for political workers. Recently, in Himachal Pradesh, a few Congress workers got burnt seriously when an attempt to set light to a Modi effigy backfired.
